The role sits within a multidisciplinary hospital environment focused on high-quality elective and emergency surgical care, outcomes-driven practice, and patient safety.

Primary Title : Consultant - General Surgeon

Role & Responsibilities

• Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures, including advanced laparoscopic and open operations, with a focus on safe, evidence-based operative technique.
• Lead perioperative management : pre-op assessment, intra-op decision-making, and post-op follow-up to optimise patient outcomes and reduce complications.
• Provide on-call emergency surgical coverage and rapid decision-making for trauma and acute abdominal presentations.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents, and theatre teams; contribute to training, case review, and morbidity & mortality meetings.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with anaesthesia, ICU, radiology, oncology and allied specialties to plan complex surgical pathways.
• Maintain clinical governance : participate in audits, maintain accurate medical records, adhere to hospital protocols and regulatory requirements.
