Senior Backend Engineer

Location :  India - Remote

Type :  Full-time

We are hiring a  Senior Backend Engineer  on behalf of a fast-growing SaaS startup that is building intelligent inventory and forecasting systems for modern e-commerce businesses.

As one of the first backend hires, you will work closely with the CTO to design, scale, and optimize a high-performance, data-intensive platform already used by hundreds of merchants. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership, technical depth, and product impact.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement scalable backend systems and APIs handling millions of data points
  • Improve reliability, observability, and performance across distributed systems
  • Collaborate with product and data teams to deliver new features end-to-end
  • Contribute to infrastructure improvements, CI / CD, and cloud deployments
  • Adopt AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development and maintain quality

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience building production-grade software in startups or tech product environments
  • Strong proficiency in  Python  (experience with  FastAPI  preferred)
  • Solid understanding of  PostgreSQL  and database performance optimization
  • Experience with  GCP  or other major cloud platforms
  • Pragmatic approach to engineering, balancing speed and scalability
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in small, distributed teams

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with  ETL / data pipelines  (Airflow, Dagster, or Airbyte)
  • Familiarity with  ClickHouse  or other analytical databases
  • Knowledge of  event-driven architectures
  • Background in  e-commerce ,  inventory , or  supply chain  domains
  • Experience scaling systems from startup to growth stage
  • Exposure to  AI / ML engineering

    Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, QuestDB, ClickHouse, GCP, Docker, Next.js
