Summary :

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design & Automation Engineer with a strong background in SolidWorks design, tooling, and automation to lead the design and implementation of equipment, molds, and fixtures supporting our molding, quality, and assembly operations. This individual will combine mechanical creativity with practical manufacturing experience to develop efficient, repeatable, and scalable production solutions for precision silicone components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop molds, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and automated equipment using SolidWorks 3D CAD.
  • Lead concept-to-implementation projects that improve production throughput, quality, and operator ergonomics.
  • Integrate mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical components into semi-automated or fully automated systems.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Design and validate inspection and test fixtures to support the Quality department.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing manufacturing concepts and tooling early in the project cycle.
  • Provide technical documentation including 2D drawings, BOMs, and design validations under ISO 13485 and cGMP guidelines.
  • Coordinate with machine shops, toolmakers, and automation vendors for prototype and production builds.
  • Support root cause analysis and CAPA activities for tooling or automation issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians in design fundamentals and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical design, tooling, or automation engineering, preferably in injection molding, medical device, or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, configurations).
  • Strong understanding of DFM / DFA principles, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with fixture design, mold design, robotics integration, sensors, and pneumatics.
  • Working knowledge of PLC or motion control systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, GMP, and cleanroom design considerations preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and project management skills.
