The GenAI Lead Engineer is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving the design, development, and delivery of Generative AI–powered solutions. The role demands strong coding background along with technical expertise in AI / ML systems, LLM integration, and cloud-native engineering practices with strong leadership in guiding teams through execution. The Technical Lead ensures high-quality, scalable, and production-ready GenAI implementations aligned with business and product objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design and development of GenAI applications and intelligent systems, from prototype to production.
  • Drive hands-on implementation using frameworks such as LangChain, Amazon Bedrock, and OpenAI models (GPT series, embeddings, fine-tuning, etc.).
  • Apply prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-based architectures to build robust, context-aware AI solutions.
  • Implement and enforce engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, observability, and security gates.
  • Ensure production readiness - covering monitoring, instrumentation, model evaluation, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with seniors and engineers to define system architecture, data pipelines, and integration patterns for GenAI workloads.
  • Guide and mentor engineers within the team; conduct code reviews and technical design sessions.
  • Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, measurable technical deliverables.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in GenAI, LLM orchestration, and cloud AI services (preferably), bringing new ideas into practice.

Key Skills & Experience :

  • 7–10 years of software engineering experience, including at least 1+ years in GenAI systems.
  • Proficiency in Python and practical experience working with OpenAI, Anthropic, or Bedrock APIs for LLM-based solution development.
  • Strong understanding of system design, and API integration.
  • Must have experience with modern DevOps practices (CI / CD, containerization, observability).
  • Good to have hands-on experience with one of the cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Exposure to vector databases, embedding models, and prompt optimization techniques.
  • Ability to lead a small team or pod of engineers, providing technical direction and mentorship.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
