Senior Oracle Exadata DBA – Advisory Services

As part of the Advisory Services organization, the role of the Senior Oracle Exadata Database Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Oracle RDBMS systems, including Exadata and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), to ensure availability and consistent performance for our clients. This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills, cloud migration experience, and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and sustainment of multiple clients across various Oracle versions and platforms, ensuring operational readiness (security, health, and performance) for both on-premises and cloud-based Oracle environments. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Continuous engagement with the assigned client base.
  • New customer transition, administration, and maintenance plan.
  • Ensure continuous communications in a consultative approach.
  • Administer and optimize Oracle Exadata systems (compute nodes, storage cells, InfiniBand).
  • Manage Oracle databases on OCI, including provisioning, patching, backup, and recovery.
  • Lead and support end-to-end cloud migration initiatives from on-premises to OCI.
  • Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions (RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate).
  • Monitor and tune performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and SQL tuning tools.
  • Automate database operations using scripting (Shell, Python, Ansible).
  • Collaborate with cloud architects and application teams to support hybrid and cloud-native deployments.
  • Ensure database security, compliance, and audit readiness across Exadata and OCI environments.
  • Participate in capacity planning, cloud migration strategies, and architecture reviews.
  • Provide on-call support and participate in scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Be available for on-call support.
  • Consult on additional opportunities.
  • Review operational metrics.
  • Build a knowledge base, document, and develop standard operation procedures for each customer’s Oracle database architecture.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional related responsibilities as requested.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of production database support.
  • Hands-on experience supporting large-scale database environments.
  • Proven experience with Oracle Exadata systems.
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, and Grid Infrastructure.
  • Experience with Oracle Multitenant (CDB / PDB).
  • Working knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate and Data Guard.
  • Experience with ERP systems on Oracle databases (JDE / E1 preferred).
  • Strong background in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Experience working in UNIX, Linux, and Windows environments.
  • Public Cloud experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) required; OCI certifications preferred.
  • Experience with AWS cloud databases is a plus; AWS certifications desired.
  • Proven experience in cloud migration of Oracle databases to OCI.
  • Provisioning, backup, restore, and performance optimization of cloud databases.
  • Deep understanding of client data value and data protection strategies.
  • Ability to build and maintain distributed, high-performance data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with internal and external threat sources and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience automating database management tasks using scripting or orchestration tools.
  • Essential Functions

  • Design, document, and monitor the database servers.
  • Develop standards and procedures for maintenance and modification of database platforms.
  • Provide systems architecture guidance in creating high availability systems.
  • Provide direction in capacity planning, performance improvement, and storage management in partnership with other clients and internal resources.
  • Plan and support the implementation of major architectural changes.
  • Develop back-up and recovery procedures, including testing back-ups and data integrity.
  • Proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of issues.
  • Assist Business functions on delivery of timely business metrics data.
  • Assist the company in developing a data driven business culture.
