Key responsibilities

Oversee accounting operations : Manage day-to-day activities like accounts payable / receivable general ledger entries and payroll processing.

Financial reporting : Prepare and present accurate monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with standards like GAAP.

Financial analysis : Analyze financial information to identify trends variances and opportunities and provide recommendations for improvement.

Budgeting and forecasting : Work with department heads to develop and manage the budget and track performance against it.

Audits and compliance : Coordinate with external auditors and ensure compliance with all relevant tax and regulatory requirements.

Internal controls : Develop and implement internal controls and policies to safeguard assets and maintain data integrity.

Team leadership : Provide guidance training and performance reviews for junior accounting staff.

Process improvement : Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures to improve efficiency and spending.

Year-end close : Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes.

Typical requirements

Education : Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field.

Experience : Several years of experience in accounting or finance.

Certifications : Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is often preferred or required for certain responsibilities.

Skills : Strong knowledge of GAAP experience with accounting software and excellent analytical and leadership skills.

Required Skills :

Work experience as an Accountant. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
