Their duties include conducting lab and field tests, recording and analyzing data, preparing reports, maintaining and calibrating equipment, and ensuring all work complies with safety protocols and industry standards. This role is crucial for supporting civil engineers in projects like roads and buildings.

Key responsibilities

Material testing : Conduct physical and chemical tests on samples of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.

Data collection and analysis : Record all test data accurately and analyze the results to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Report generation : Prepare and compile comprehensive reports documenting test results and findings for engineers and project managers.

Equipment maintenance : Maintain, clean, and calibrate all laboratory equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.

Safety compliance : Adhere to all lab safety guidelines, procedures, and protocols.

Sample management : Receive, label, and prepare samples for testing, and organize and store chemicals according to safety instructions.

Technical support : Provide technical support to engineers and assist students or other staff with lab experiments.

Required skills and qualifications
