Backup Engineer (Veeam & Rubrik)

Location : Bangalore

Mode : Hybrid

Shift : Rotational Shift

Key Responsibilities :

  • Install, configure, and maintain Veeam and Rubrik backup solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Manage and monitor backup, replication, and recovery operations across VMware, Hyper-V, and hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Troubleshoot backup failures, replication issues, and performance bottlenecks to ensure minimal data loss and downtime.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery (DR) plans , backup retention policies, and recovery strategies to meet RPO (Recovery Point Objectives) and RTO (Recovery Time Objectives) .
  • Optimize storage utilization and maintain backup repositories, NAS, SAN, and object storage configurations.
  • Ensure backup security, compliance, and ransomware protection using encryption, immutability, and access control measures.
  • Perform periodic backup testing, verification, and documentation of recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with IT, security, and cloud teams to integrate backup solutions with infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Provide technical support and training to IT teams on best practices for backup and disaster recovery.
  • File, database, and VM restores.
  • Backup status reports.
  • Add / modify / delete server under backup.
  • Add / modify / delete backup policy.

Required Qualifications :

  • Technical Skills :
  • Expertise in Veeam Backup & Replication and Rubrik backup platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and physical server backups .
  • Experience with cloud backup and replication (Azure Backup, AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage) .
  • Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux environments .
  • Understanding of networking, firewall rules, and security best practices related to backups.
  • Familiarity with immutable storage, ransomware protection, and data encryption .
  • Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) for backup job management.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience handling high-pressure situations during data recovery or system failures.
