Job Description : Site Quality Engineer – Blade Inspection and Repair
Position Overview :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Site Quality Engineer – Blade Inspection and Repair to oversee and ensure the quality standards of wind turbine blade inspections, repairs, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing quality control processes, conducting inspections, and coordinating with repair teams to maintain blade integrity and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities :
- Blade Inspections : Conduct detailed inspections of wind turbine blades using various techniques (visual, drone, ultrasonic, and thermal imaging).
- Quality Control : Implement and enforce quality standards for blade repairs, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards (e.g., DNV GL, IEC).
- Repair Oversight : Monitor on-site blade repair processes, ensuring adherence to approved repair methods and materials.
- Defect Analysis : Identify and document blade defects (e.g., cracks, delamination, erosion) and assess their impact on performance and safety.
- Reporting : Prepare and maintain detailed inspection and repair reports, including photographs and recommendations.
- Process Improvement : Collaborate with engineering teams to improve inspection techniques and repair procedures.
- Safety Compliance : Ensure all inspection and repair activities comply with site safety protocols and industry regulations.
- Training & Support : Provide technical support and training to site technicians on inspection standards and quality procedures.
Qualifications and Skills :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Civil Engineering (or a related field).Experience : Minimum of 7-10 years in wind turbine blade inspection, repair, or quality engineering.Certifications : GWO certifications and Blade Repair Level 1 / 2 certifications preferred. NDT Level IITechnical Skills : Proficiency with inspection tools, drones, borescopes, and NDT techniques.Software Skills : Familiarity with inspection reporting software and quality management systems (QMS).Communication : Strong reporting and documentation skills.Problem-Solving : Ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.Work Environment :
Conditions : Fieldwork may involve working at heights and in varying weather conditions.Schedule : Full-time with potential for overtime during peak maintenance seasons.
