Job Title : Head of IT & Systems Integration – Automated Container Yard

About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned IT & Systems Integration Leader to architect, implement, and optimize the entire technology ecosystem for India’s first fully automated empty container yard at JNPT. This role demands a strategic thinker and hands-on executor who can seamlessly integrate best-in-class solutions across yard management, port automation, ERP / TMS connectivity, and cutting-edge AI / computer vision capabilities.
This is a rare opportunity to lead the tech backbone of a state-of-the-art facility that will redefine container logistics in India.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Architecture
- Define and implement the end-to-end technology roadmap for the facility.
- Select, integrate, and manage core systems, including :
- Yard Management System (YMS)
- Dock & Gate Booking Systems
- Vehicle Token & Transportation Management
- Automated Crane & Handling Systems
- ERP & TMS Integration (SAP / Oracle / Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent)
- Maintenance & Repair (M&R) Modules with damage estimation tools.
- Ensure system interoperability, data consistency, and process automation across the stack.
Systems Integration & Vendor Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for all technology vendors, from contract negotiation to delivery oversight.Manage complex integrations between OT (Operational Technology) and IT systems, including IoT devices, PLCs, and port equipment automation.Oversee the successful deployment of hardware, software, and network infrastructure.Innovation & Emerging Tech
Explore and deploy AI / ML solutions for predictive maintenance, damage detection, and operational efficiency.Implement computer vision tools for automated container inspection and condition reporting.Drive pilot projects to trial and scale innovative port technology solutions.Operational Readiness & Performance
Develop and oversee testing, commissioning, and go-live plans for all systems.Ensure uptime, scalability, cybersecurity, and data protection compliance.Create dashboards and reporting tools for real-time operational visibility.Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Build and lead a small high-performance IT / OT team on-site.Work closely with operations, commercial, M&R, and finance teams to align tech solutions with business goals.Train operational staff on systems usage and best practices.Qualifications & Experience
Required :
12+ years in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years in ports, terminals, logistics, or manufacturing automation .Proven track record as a systems integrator managing multi-vendor technology programs.Experience with YMS, TOS (Terminal Operating Systems), ERP, TMS, and port automation.Strong understanding of OT-IT integration, industrial automation, IoT, and computer vision applications.Experience in large-scale technology rollouts with mission-critical uptime requirements.Preferred :
Exposure to AI / ML implementation in industrial settings.Familiarity with Indian port regulations, customs systems, and trade facilitation platforms.PMP / Prince2, TOGAF, or equivalent certification in project or architecture frameworks.Key Competencies
