TECHNICAL ARCHITECT

Our customer is currently exploring the possibility of phased modernization of a high-transaction volume travel platform built on .NET 4.8. We are looking for a hands-on Technical Architect who can lead architectural improvements in the legacy codebase while charting a path for future modernization using the latest in .NET and cloud-native technologies.

Role Overview :

The .NET Technical Architect will work closely with the customer's product and engineering teams to :

Analyze the existing monolithic travel distribution platform
Redesign critical layers—particularly dynamic packaging and external integrations—for improved modularity and scalability
Advise and drive modernization initiatives leveraging modern .NET stack, microservices, and cloud-native approaches
Guide the team toward performant and resilient architecture patterns for high-volume travel transactions

Key Responsibilities :

Lead the technical assessment of the current .NET 4.8 codebase and identify modernization opportunities

Design and oversee decoupling strategies for the dynamic packaging layer and its integration with external airline / hotel / GDS APIs

Define and implement intermediary architectural improvements on the legacy system before full modernization

Create reference architectures and blueprints for modern .NET-based microservices

Ensure platform performance, scalability, and resiliency for high-concurrency travel bookings and search scenarios

Mentor development teams on modern .NET, API-first design, and clean architecture principles

Collaborate with DevOps to ensure CI / CD readiness, infrastructure-as-code, and observability

Evaluate and recommend best-fit technologies and frameworks (e.g., GoLang, Node.js) for specific modules where applicable

Conduct architectural reviews and ensure governance across development pods

Required Skills & Experience :

15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years in an architect role

Deep expertise in .NET Framework (4.8) and modern .NET (.NET 6 / 7 / 8) ecosystem

Proven experience modernizing large monolithic applications into modular or microservices architectures

Experience designing travel platforms , GDS integrations, or dynamic packaging engines is a strong plus

Understanding of travel domain standards like NDC, PNR, One Order is preferred

Experience in designing for high-volume, low-latency, and distributed systems

Strong grasp of API design (REST / gRPC), messaging queues, and caching (e.g., Redis)

Exposure to cloud-native development on Azure or AWS platforms

Familiarity with GoLang or willingness to explore alternate modern stacks

Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes

Nice to Have :

Experience with event-driven architecture

Knowledge of AI-powered personalization engines or recommendation systems in the travel domain

Familiarity with API gateways (e.g., Kong, Azure API Management)
