Role Overview :
As CTO, you will lead the technological vision and execution for the company, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative products and solutions that drive educational transformation. You will work closely with the founders and leadership team to set strategic direction, oversee architecture, ensure scalability, and manage risk, while fostering a culture of innovation.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategy & Planning :
- Partner with founders to lead strategic planning, prioritizing development initiatives, and setting timelines for product evaluation, development, and deployment.
- Identify and evaluate appropriate technology platforms (including web application frameworks and deployment stacks) for delivering services.
- Establish governance processes to ensure objectives are met, risks are managed, and resources are optimally used, particularly in software development, infrastructure, and telecommunications.
- Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Direct and implement an enterprise-wide information security plan that safeguards the companys data and systems.
- Communicate technology strategies effectively to investors, management, staff, partners, and customers.
Implementation & Deployment :
Oversee selection and setup of revision control, internal communication, and project management systems (if not handled by a system administrator).Collaborate with founders, customers, and UX designers to define use cases, specifications, and prototypes.Refine the software development methodology and enforce coding, documentation, and testing standards.Select and manage development teamsinternal or outsourcedto deliver projects on time and within scope.Supervise software development, code reviews, quality assurance, and release management.Evaluate hosting providers and manage staging / production deployment processes.Monitor system performance and ensure rapid resolution of production issues.Integrate customer support insights into product improvements.Operational Management :
Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.Define and uphold company technology standards and acquisition policies.Mentor and educate stakeholders on technological opportunities and challenges.Lead recruitment, training, and retention of top technical talent.Resolve technical challenges efficiently and & Qualifications :Demonstrated ability to envision and deliver web-based services that solve real-world problems.Minimum 20 years of experience in managing enterprise application development.Hands-on coding expertise in multiple popular web application frameworks.Proficiency in multiple software development methodologies.Strong skills in CSS, XHTML, JavaScript frameworks, AJAX, and web standards.In-depth knowledge of web systems architecture, design, and development (Java / J2EE).Experience in server administration and web server configuration.Track record of leadership in senior technology roles (CTO / SVP / VP).Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA is a plus.Strong project management, vendor management, and negotiation skills.Experience contributing to open-source projects is an advantage.Personal Attributes :
