Backend Developer

Full Description

At Data Eminence, we build technology solutions that require dependable backend infrastructure and well-designed APIs. As a Backend Developer, you will work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other team members to design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain scalable server-side applications and services.
• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs.
• Implement business logic and backend functionality based on product requirements.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Design database schemas and write efficient queries.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and access-control mechanisms.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external services.
• Develop CRUD operations and data-processing workflows.
• Validate API requests and handle errors securely and efficiently.
• Write unit and integration tests for backend functionality.
• Debug and troubleshoot application and API issues.
• Optimize backend performance, database queries, and API response times.
• Use Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
• Participate in code reviews and follow software development best practices.
• Assist with deployment, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Maintain technical documentation for APIs, services, and backend processes.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure smooth API integration.
• Stay updated with modern backend technologies and development practices.

We believe in learning by doing. You will gain practical experience with Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs, TypeScript/JavaScript, databases, SQL, Prisma/ORMs, authentication, Git/GitHub, Docker, cloud deployment, API testing tools, and AI-assisted development tools.

This is a hands-on backend development role where you will work on real APIs and application functionality, troubleshoot technical issues, optimize systems, and develop the skills required to build production-ready backend services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in backend development or relevant projects.
• Strong understanding of backend programming concepts.
• Familiarity with Node.js, Express.js, Python, Java, or another backend technology.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and HTTP methods.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub.
• Basic understanding of API testing using tools such as Postman.
• Knowledge of Prisma or another ORM is a plus.
• Familiarity with Docker and cloud deployment is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
