Senior Accounting Manager

MAVI partners with high-growth US startups and SMEs, embedding experienced accounting professionals directly within their finance teams. This is not a traditional accounting manager role, you will own accounting operations for US clients, set the standard your team works to, and act as the senior accounting voice in the relationship.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Accounting Manager, you will own end-to-end accounting operations for US clients, lead a team of accountants and managers, and work as a peer to US Controllers and CFOs rather than a reporting line beneath them.

This is a senior seat with genuine authority. You will hold final review before numbers reach the client, decide how the work gets done across your accounts, and carry the accounting relationship when it matters through the close, through the audit, and through the conversations where a judgement has to be defended.

What You Will Own

• Own end-to-end accounting (Record-to-Report) across multiple US clients or entities
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, and set the standard their work is held to
• Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles, with accountability for the calendar and cycle time
• Hold final review over financial statements under US GAAP before they reach the client, and stand behind them
• Own technical accounting positions — revenue recognition, accruals, and capitalisation — and document the judgements behind them
• Establish and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and close procedures across your accounts
• Act as the senior US client contact, building relationships at Controller and CFO level
• Own audit readiness and manage auditor interactions through to resolution of findings
• Lead ERP implementations, migrations, and process automation rather than incremental workflow fixes
• Build the close checklists, SOPs, and documentation that let the function run without depending on any single individual
• Advise US finance leadership on accounting risks and the implications of business decisions

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of accounting experience with deep US GAAP expertise
• Demonstrated ownership of a full close cycle and financial statements on an independent basis
• Proven team management experience, including reviewing and developing other accountants
• Experience managing an audit, including direct interaction with external auditors through to resolution
• Experience with multi-entity or multi-client accounting and consolidation preferred
• ERP experience (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Toast, or similar), including implementation or migration exposure
• CA / CPA / ACCA (or equivalent) strongly preferred
• Excellent English communication, with the confidence to defend a conclusion in front of senior stakeholders
• Ability to work with US time zone overlap
