Media Relations Specialist


Role Overview


The Media Relations Specialist will serve as a dedicated extension of US based PR team, supporting media research, journalist mapping, media list development, opportunity identification, content preparation, database management, and media operations coordination. The role is responsible for executing high-volume media relations activities that improve responsiveness, efficiency, and scalability across client accounts while maintaining quality standards.


Key Responsibilities


Media Research & List Development


  • Build, maintain, and continuously update targeted media lists across business, technology, healthcare, consumer, lifestyle, and trade media.
  • Research journalists, editors, producers, podcast hosts, newsletters, influencers, and media outlets relevant to client campaigns.
  • Maintain detailed journalist profiles, beat coverage information, and publication intelligence.


Media Opportunity Monitoring


  • Monitor editorial calendars, industry developments, reporter requests, breaking news, and emerging trends.
  • Identify proactive media engagement opportunities aligned to client objectives.
  • Track speaking opportunities, conferences, awards programs, contributed content opportunities, and podcast placements.


Content & Outreach Support


  • Prepare first drafts of media pitches, pitch angles, press releases, media alerts, briefing notes, executive profiles, and supporting background materials.
  • Support campaign story development through research and media intelligence gathering.
  • Assist account teams in preparing media engagement materials for journalist interactions.


Media Operations & Database Management


  • Maintain media databases, journalist directories, CRM systems, outreach trackers, and account documentation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all media records and campaign information.
  • Support workflow management and coordination across multiple client accounts.


PR Coordination Support


  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating interviews, media briefings, media tours, and press activities.
  • Support day-to-day administrative and execution activities related to media relations programs.


Desired Profile


  • 4-5 years of experience in Public Relations, Media Relations, Corporate Communications, Journalism, or Agency Support Services.
  • Exceptional internet research and information-gathering skills.
  • Strong business writing and content development capabilities.
  • Ability to work across multiple industries and client accounts simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with media databases, CRM platforms, media monitoring tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, responsiveness, and communication skills.
