Job Purpose

The primary focus of this position is to support the ICE Data Indices (IDI) product team in London. The candidate will be part of a team working in the design, verification, and release of new index builds. The candidate must be comfortable with working individually and in collaboration with the team.

The position requires working in the design of new indices and prototypes and working with the quant team for their implementation. Once the index is coded, the position also requires the verification and checking that the correct rules have been applied to the new indices. It requires working with large amounts of data and spreadsheets and analyzing and interpreting it, both at the index and security level. Knowledge of Excel tools is a fundamental part of the job, as it is knowledge of VBA, Python or a similar scrip language. Many tasks will be carried out using the ICE Index Portal, which will be learned on the job. Knowledge of equity and fixed income index calculation methodologies will be needed and will be acquired if not currently possessed.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients and IDI Product, R&D and Quant teams to design and build bespoke and standard indices and prototypes to meet client demand.
• Verification of new index builds and the validation of calculated data.
• Work with large spreadsheets including both index and securities data, using the Excel tools needed for the corresponding analysis.
• Analyze, interpret, and validate data and analytics both at the security and index level
• Work with databases and carryout analysis using excel tools and/or Python.
• Command and use of the ICE Index Portal will be fundamental to carry many tasks, e.g. Index Constituents, Profiling tool, Data Download, Custom Index tool, etc. Learning about the portal will be on the job.
• Apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative work-flow efficiencies and process improvements resulting in increased accuracy levels.
• Ad hoc research or data analysis to support index product team globally.

Knowledge And Experience

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in Math, Finance, Engineering, Physics or Technology.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel tools and formulas, VBA, Python or any other script language.
• Good Windows Office skills for Word, PowerPoint, etc are also required.
• Professional certificates such CFA/CIPM would be a plus.
• Strong analytical and judgment skills with the ability to comprehend complex materials and be able to link the dots. Ability to distill large amounts of information into specific takeaways.
• Good organizational skills, and ability to work under stringent time constraints, multi-task and prioritize workload.
• Familiar with common construction methodologies for equity and fixed income indices, and with index and portfolio analytics and associated systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and high degree of demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Eagerness to learn and collaborate with others. Personable and with the ability to work as a part of a team and independently in a fast paced, high pressured, fluid environment.
