Job Description Head of Operations - Switchgear (SG) Location: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra Reporting To: Head - Execution Unit (GT SG) A Snapshot of Your Day As the Head of Operations - Switchgear, you will lead end-to-end manufacturing operations across Siemens Energy's Switchgear business, overseeing factories, external warehouses, and ancillary units to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of high-quality products. You will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, enhancing productivity, strengthening manufacturing competitiveness, and supporting sustainable business growth while meeting customer commitments. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the manufacturing strategy across production, planning, quality, maintenance, logistics, industrial engineering, continuous improvement, and manufacturing excellence functions. Working closely with Business Development, Order Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, HR, EHS, and Quality teams, you will drive operational performance, cost optimization, digital transformation, and capability development while fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement. We are looking for an accomplished manufacturing leader with deep expertise in industrial operations, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of leading large-scale manufacturing organizations to world-class performance standards. How You'll Make an Impact - Lead and oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations across factories, warehouses, and ancillary units to achieve business, operational, and customer performance targets. - Drive operational excellence through effective production planning, execution, performance monitoring, and implementation of corrective actions to ensure delivery commitments are met. - Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, operating procedures, and governance frameworks that enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. - Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Industry 4.0, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational performance and create sustainable competitive advantage. - Establish and lead cross-functional teams to drive strategic improvement programs, productivity enhancement initiatives, and transformational projects. - Foster a strong Quality First culture across manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations. - Drive a Zero Harm culture by strengthening Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) practices, ensuring compliance with SOPs, HIRA processes, and all applicable regulations. - Promote sustainability initiatives through energy optimization, waste reduction, resource efficiency, and environmentally responsible manufacturing practices. - Establish, monitor, and continuously improve key operational KPIs, service levels, and performance dashboards to enable data-driven decision-making. - Lead operational reviews, assess risks and opportunities, and implement improvement actions to strengthen manufacturing reliability and business performance. - Drive cost optimization through strategic material cost management, productivity improvements, manufacturing efficiency enhancements, and conversion cost reduction initiatives. - Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and R&D teams to identify and execute value engineering and cost-saving programs. - Support business growth by developing scalable manufacturing models, enabling capacity expansion, and strengthening operational readiness for future demand. - Lead digitalization and automation initiatives that improve productivity, visibility, operational agility, and manufacturing competitiveness. - Partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational alignment, customer satisfaction, and timely resolution of critical business issues. - Build high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, capability development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives. - Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and operational excellence throughout the organization. What You Bring - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - 20-25+ years of experience in Operations and Manufacturing within Electrical Equipment, Switchgear, Power Equipment, Heavy Engineering, or Industrial Manufacturing industries. - Proven leadership experience of 8-10+ years managing large manufacturing teams and complex multi-functional production environments. - Strong expertise in manufacturing operations, production management, industrial engineering, quality management, maintenance, logistics, and supply chain integration. - Demonstrated success in driving Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, and Digital Manufacturing initiatives. - Experience working within high-mix, low-volume and Engineer-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing environments is highly desirable. - Strong understanding of manufacturing financials, cost structures, budget management, and profitability drivers. - Proven ability to drive productivity improvement, cost optimization, resource utilization, and operational efficiency across large manufacturing operations. - Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach to operational leadership. - Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business functions and leadership levels. - Proven experience leading organizational transformation, change management, and business growth initiatives. - Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills with the ability to engage and develop senior leaders and diverse teams. - Passion for operational excellence, people development, safety leadership, and building a high-performance manufacturing culture.
