Job Profile Summary

The Senior Technical Consultant is a fixed member of the VCF9 Migration Factory Delivery Pod's Lead & Design tier, owning offshore capacity, wave scheduling, and escalations. Serves as the interface between the offshore Delivery Pod and onshore points of contact, and makes the final call on whether each wave is ready to proceed — balancing customer expectations against delivery realities such as design risk, validation status, and resource availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Owns offshore capacity planning and wave scheduling for the Delivery Pod, balancing available Execution and Enablement & Control resourcing against wave volume and concurrency targets.

• Serves as the primary interface between the offshore Delivery Pod and onshore points of contact, translating customer priorities and delivery constraints in both directions.

• Makes the final go/no-go call on whether each wave is ready to proceed, weighing customer expectations against delivery realities such as design risk, validation status, and resource availability.

• Owns escalation management for the pod, serving as the senior point of contact for customer and internal escalations that cannot be resolved at the Migration Coordinator or engineering level.

• Partners with the Migration Architect to ensure wave readiness reviews incorporate approved SDDC → VCF migration designs and rollback plans before sign-off.

• Works with the Technical Project Manager to align wave readiness decisions with the master schedule, RAID log, and stakeholder reporting.

• Implements migration governance processes as defined by SOWs and migration plans, ensuring the Delivery Pod's execution stays within contracted scope.

• Monitors wave-level performance, quality, and stability trends, and drives corrective action when a wave's readiness criteria are at risk.

• Networks with key contacts and stakeholders internally and externally to maintain trust and transparency across the customer relationship.

• Proactively identifies potential wave-level risks and works through resolution with internal and external stakeholders before they impact schedule or scope.

• Serves as a technical and governance advisor to the pod, mentoring the Migration Architect, Migration Coordinator, and other Lead & Design colleagues on escalation handling and customer management.

• Develops and implements best practices for wave readiness governance and escalation processes across the Delivery Pod.

Knowledge

• Advanced knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) migration factory operating models, including wave-based delivery and offshore/onshore delivery pod structures

• Advanced knowledge of enterprise applications and migration tooling in one or more modules/systems relevant to VCF9 migrations

• Advanced understanding of system capabilities and configuration options for VMware Cloud Foundation and related migration platforms

• Advanced knowledge of business process and operations, particularly around customer escalation management and governance

Education

• High School Diploma or regional equivalent required

• Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a field related to role. At the manager's discretion, additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement

Certifications

• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification preferred

• ITIL certification preferred

Experience

• 8 – 11 years of experience in the field of role required, including experience managing offshore/onshore delivery models and customer escalations at scale

Physical Demands

• General office environment. May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor. Considerable levels of stress may occur at times, particularly during wave escalations. No special physical demands required.

Travel

Domestic/international travel required, up to 25%, primarily for onshore customer engagement and escalation resolution.
