Plant Commercial Manager

About the Role: We are looking for an experienced Plant Commercial Manager to lead commercial, controlling, and financial governance activities at our Rajpura manufacturing facility. This role plays a critical part in driving efficient, cost-effective, and compliant plant operations by ensuring financial accuracy, strong internal controls, effective cost management, and sound commercial decision-making. The successful candidate will partner closely with Plant Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, and Finance teams to provide financial insights that support business performance and continuous improvement. Team Size: 2 Direct Reports Key Responsibilities Financial Controlling & Reporting - Lead plant controlling activities, month-end close processes, and financial reporting. - Ensure accurate accounting records and timely submission of monthly financial reports. - Maintain robust financial controls and compliance standards across plant operations. Inventory & Operational Controls - Oversee inventory controls for raw oil, work-in-progress (WIP), finished goods, packaging materials, and MRO inventory. - Manage production and weighbridge control processes to ensure data accuracy in SAP. - Drive timely reconciliations and strengthen inventory accuracy across the plant. Cost Management & Business Performance - Monitor and analyze plant variable and fixed costs against budget and prior-year performance. - Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide actionable insights to improve financial and operational efficiency. - Support plant leadership with data-driven recommendations and performance analysis. Commercial Governance & Compliance - Manage commercial governance activities including: - DPO reviews - Contract evaluations - Capex evaluations - GRN and weighbridge reconciliations - Scrap management - Statutory and SOX compliance - Ensure adherence to internal policies, controls, and regulatory requirements. Team Leadership - Lead, coach, and develop the plant commercial team. - Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. - Ensure timely resolution of audit observations and compliance-related matters. Candidates must posses strong knowledge of: - Plant Controlling - Cost & Financial Accounting - Budgeting and Forecasting - MIS Reporting - Taxation and Statutory Compliance - Internal Controls and SOX Compliance - SAP and Advanced MS Excel - Proven ability to analyze production and cost variances and translate financial data into meaningful business insights. - Experience reviewing commercial contracts and evaluating capital expenditure proposals. Leadership & Behavioral Competencies: - Strong business and financial acumen with a high degree of ownership and accountability. - Ability to effectively partner with cross-functional stakeholders across Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, and Finance. - Excellent communication, coaching, and people-development skills. - Results-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving and execution capabilities in a manufacturing environment. Qualifications & Experience - Chartered Accountant/Cost Accountant (CA/ICWA) or equivalent professional qualification. - 10-15 years of relevant experience in: - Manufacturing Finance - Plant Controlling - Commercial Finance - Industrial Operations Finance - Prior experience in SAP-driven environments and strong exposure to internal controls and plant operations is highly preferred.
