Job Description – Music Manager (FM Tadka)

Reports To: Programming Head / Chief Programming Officer

Team: Music Schedulers, Music Executives, Music Research Executive

Role Summary

Lead FM Tadka’s music strategy, brand sound, library, research, scheduling, and innovation to maximize listener engagement, Time Spent Listening (TSL), and brand recall. Own the station’s overall music experience while collaborating with programming, digital, sales, and creative teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Define music strategy, brand sound, library architecture, rotations, and daypart planning.
• Manage and refresh the music library, including song acquisition, categorization, coding, and seasonal/event-based programming.
• Supervise music scheduling by approving clocks, rotations, artist separation, genre/tempo balance, and monitoring repetition and burn.
• Lead music research through audience surveys, listener feedback, digital analytics, and market insights to improve programming decisions.
• Track music trends across streaming platforms, social media, competitors, and emerging artists to identify future hits and changing listener preferences.
• Collaborate with Programming, RJs, Creative, Digital, Sales, and Brand teams to develop music-led content, specials, and campaigns.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking and submit regular competitor analysis reports.
• Ensure music rights compliance, licensing, metadata accuracy, and usage policies.
• Mentor and develop the music scheduling team while building future talent.
• Drive innovation through AI-assisted scheduling, predictive rotations, hyperlocal playlists, mood/weather-based programming, and digital music strategies.

Deliverables

• Weekly: Music meetings, burn reports, new song recommendations, competitor analysis, scheduler reviews, library health checks.
• Monthly: Music research, playlist updates, gold refresh, burn list, category changes, KPI dashboard, programming recommendations, digital trend reports.
• Quarterly: Music strategy review, listener research, music testing, library expansion, and brand sound audit.

Skills & Expertise

• Strong knowledge of Bollywood, regional, independent, and international music.
• Experience with music scheduling, audience research, TSL, burn analysis, and programming strategy.
• Proficiency in MusicMaster, PowerGold, RCS Selector, Zetta, WideOrbit, Excel, Power BI, Spotify Analytics, YouTube Analytics, and AI music research tools.
• Strong leadership, analytical, presentation, collaboration, and decision-making skills.

Key KPIs

Brand consistency, TSL improvement, library freshness, rotation efficiency, listener satisfaction, burn reduction, song discovery success, digital engagement, scheduler accuracy, competitor differentiation, programming satisfaction, and RJ feedback.

Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in Radio Programming/Music Management.
• Prior experience with leading FM networks preferred.
• Proven expertise in music scheduling, audience research, and programming strategy.
