Role Overview :
We are looking to hire an additional Head of Engineering to strengthen our General Insurance technology leadership. This role will have end-to-end ownership of engineering delivery, working alongside the existing leadership team to drive scalable, high-quality platform outcomes.
This is a delivery-focused leadership role, requiring strong hands-on expertise in building and scaling General Insurance systems in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Own end-to-end engineering delivery for General Insurance systems and platforms.
- Lead multiple engineering teams across backend, frontend, integrations, cloud, and data.
- Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery aligned with business and regulatory priorities.
- Drive platform scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
- Partner closely with Product, Business, and Architecture teams for execution excellence.
- Implement modern engineering practices :
1. Microservices and cloud-native architecture.
2. CI/CD, DevOps, SRE, and observability.
- Own technical debt, system stability, and release timelines.
- Ensure adherence to IRDAI regulations, data security, and internal risk controls.
- Mentor senior leaders and foster a strong ownership culture.
- Manage vendor partnerships and delivery commitments.
Mandatory Requirements :
- 15 to 20 years of engineering experience with leadership exposure.
- Strong General Insurance domain expertise (Motor, Health, Commercial, Property).
- Proven ownership of end-to-end delivery, beyond just architecture or people management.
- Experience with core insurance systems (Policy, Claims, Underwriting, Integrations).
- Strong technical depth in :
1. Cloud (AWS preferred).
2. Distributed systems, APIs, and databases.
- Experience managing large-scale, transaction-heavy platforms.
- Willingness to operate in a high-accountability, office-first setup.
Good to Have :
- Experience in InsurTech or regulated financial domains.
- Exposure to event-driven architectures and data platforms.
- Prior experience scaling systems in high-growth environments.
