Description

  • We are seeking a highly experienced Vice President, Commodities OTC Confirmations, to lead our post-trade confirmation operations team. In this senior role, you will oversee the end-to-end confirmation lifecycle for complex over-the-counter (OTC) commodity derivatives.
  • You will act as the primary escalation point for bespoke trade agreements, drive process automation, ensure strict regulatory compliance, and lead a high-performing team.
  • The ideal candidate will bring deep product knowledge across power, natural gas, crude, metals, and agricultural commodities, together with strong expertise in the ISDA framework

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of confirmation specialists. Define performance metrics (KPIs/KRIs), conduct appraisals, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and risk awareness.
  • Oversee the daily drafting, matching, and execution of complex OTC commodity trade confirmations. Act as the final escalation point for highly structured or bespoke trades that deviate from standard templates.
  • Ensure full adherence to global regulatory dispatch and execution timelines, including CFTC, FCA and EMIR requirements. Monitor outstanding confirmation aging reports and mitigate operational, credit, and legal risks.
  • Partner closely with the Front Office, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and external counterparties to resolve complex legal disputes and economic discrepancies. Drive Straight-Through Processing (STP) initiatives and lead integration projects for automated document generation.
  • Maintain robust procedural documentation and act as the primary liaison for internal and external audits relating to commodity confirmation processes.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with internal and external teams to ensure deliverables are completed in line with standard procedures and agreed timelines

Your skills and experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in derivatives operations, with a core focus on OTC commodities, including power, natural gas, crude, metals, or agricultural commodities.
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience in a fast-paced investment banking operations environment.
  • Subject matter expert-level understanding of the 2005 ISDA Commodity Definitions.
  • Deep familiarity with global trade reporting and confirmation timeliness regulations, including CFTC, EMIR, and FCA requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field. Experience with document generation platforms, together with strong advanced Excel, AI, SQL, VBA, or Python skills for data analysis.
  • Ability to make timely, risk-based decisions during high-pressure market events.
  • Proven track record of re-engineering legacy processes to reduce manual touchpoints and operational risk.
  • Fluent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts based on business requirements.
  • Effective people, process, and client management capabilities.

Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
