The Role :

We are looking for an experienced Sales and Business Development Professional to spearhead our expansion into the Indian Solar Market. This Solar Industry leader should be well connected with extensive industry relationships across solar and battery market wholesalers-distributors, finance companies and manufacturers, with a deep knowledge of the national solar and storage market. We are after a highly motivated self-starter to build our brand and build our ecosystem of services with the aim to build the leading toolkit for small businesses in India and accelerate the energy transition.

What you’ll be doing :

  • Shape, Launch and Lead OpenSolar India
  • Work with the global OpenSolar CEO, and the executive team to develop and scale the OpenSolar business in India, with possible expansion into other South Asian markets
  • Build and lead a team of Business Development, User-facing sales and support, local product management, and operations - to adapt and launch the disruptive OpenSolar business model into the high-growth, globally important Indian residential solar market.
  • Identify, develop and execute commercial partnerships with key suppliers, manufacturers and service providers within India
  • Set out and manage delivery of Business development, revenue and growth targets in key growth regions within India.
  • Write a business plan and deliver revenue growth targets across Indian regions aligned to plan and to budget.
  • Strong emphasis on building partnerships and driving user experience excellence.

Objectives of the Role :

  • Growth - Grow OpenSolar partner base, revenue and user base in focus Indian regions in order to deliver OpenSolar's global growth objectives
  • Revenue - Establish core commercial relationships and develop opportunities to foster future revenue and revenue attachment opportunities, rolling out the existing standardised revenue generating products, such as cashflow, integrated finance, hardware and marketing services.
  • Product Market Fit - Oversee and own the required deliverables for product market fit of OpenSolar in the focused regions of India, including acting as the key sponsor for PMF of OpenSolar's monetisable products in market.
  • What you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Science, Engineering or Commerce or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Prior leadership experience in setting up companies / building brand presence in new markets with proven results in growing market share.
  • 8+ years of proven Sales & Marketing / Business Development experience with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
  • Prior experience building teams and business in SaaS, distributed solar wholesale or fintech industries is required.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Local knowledge of the Indian Solar Industry.
  • Established networks & relationships with government agencies would be advantageous.
