Job Description
CMF Designer - Aircraft Interiors Product Design & User Experience (PDX) Team
The ePlane Company (Ubifly Technologies Pvt. Ltd.) is an eVTOL startup incubated at IIT Madras building the e200X a compact electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft for urban air mobility and aerial emergency medical services. Our PDX team shapes everything the pilot paramedic and passenger see and touch: cabin and cockpit architecture interiors materials ergonomics and mock-up-driven design validation developed against certification frameworks such as EASA SC-VTOL and DGCA AEAC 01.
Role OverviewWe are looking for a CMF Designer to own the colour material and finish direction of the e200X aircraft interior. You will define the material palette for the cabin and cockpit seating trim panels flooring soft goods acoustic padding and touchpoints balancing aesthetics ergonomics durability weight and aviation compliance requirements (flammability toxicity cleanability). A hands-on role at the intersection of design sensibility and engineering constraint ideal for a designer who wants to see their material choices fly.
Key Responsibilities Develop CMF strategies mood boards and material palettes for the e200X cabin and cockpit including the aerial ambulance (EMS) configuration.
Research source and evaluate interior materials leathers technical fabrics foams laminates films paints coatings against weight flammability (FST) toxicity cleanability and durability requirements for aerospace use.
Build and maintain a materials library with supplier data sheets samples cost weight and compliance documentation.
Collaborate with industrial designers CAD integrators and interiors engineers to translate CMF intent into producible specifications; work with vendors to validate finishes on prototype parts.
Support mock-up and prototype builds with trim wrap paint and finish application; assess results under real lighting and use conditions.
Prepare CMF specification documents colour standards and finish callouts for drawings and supplier packages.
Track CMF trends across aviation automotive and premium mobility and bring fresh direction to design reviews.
Support brand-consistent CMF application across show mock-ups and exhibition builds.
