About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and driven Equity Analyst to join our investment research team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in fundamental equity research, financial modelling, and valuation, with a keen interest in the pharmaceutical sector. This role involves identifying high-conviction investment opportunities, monitoring portfolio companies, and supporting investment decisions through rigorous research and insightful analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive fundamental research on listed pharmaceutical companies, including:
- Financial modelling
- Business and industry analysis
- Valuation (DCF, Comparable Companies, Sum-of-the-Parts, etc.)
- Management quality assessment
- Develop and present actionable investment recommendations with a well-defined risk-reward framework.
- Build, maintain, and update detailed financial models, incorporating scenario and sensitivity analyses.
- Monitor portfolio holdings by tracking quarterly earnings, corporate announcements, management commentary, and key business developments to validate or reassess investment theses.
- Stay abreast of macroeconomic, industry, regulatory, and competitive developments affecting the pharmaceutical sector and broader equity markets.
- Prepare high-quality investment notes, research reports, presentations, and investment committee memorandums.
- Interact with company management, sell-side analysts, industry experts, and other market participants to gather relevant insights.
- Maintain and enhance internal research databases, financial models, trackers, and knowledge repositories.
- Support portfolio managers and senior investment professionals with timely research and analytical inputs.
Desired Candidate Profile
- CA and/or CFA qualification.
- 5–7 years of experience in equity research, investment analysis, asset management, PMS, mutual funds, or related financial services.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, valuation techniques, and capital markets.
- Prior experience covering the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector will be preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, research-driven environment with strong attention to detail.
