OT Scrub Nurse

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating theatre by ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and ready for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team during the operation by passing instruments, sponges, and other materials in a sterile manner.
• Maintain a sterile field at all times throughout the surgical procedure.
• Ensure patient safety by monitoring vital signs and assisting with positioning and draping as required.
• Work closely with the surgical team to anticipate the needs of the surgeon, anesthetist, and other members of the team during surgery.
• Document the surgical procedure, including the count of surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps.
• Participate in the cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment post-surgery.
• Assist in preparing the patient for surgery by ensuring proper preparation, including skin preparation and draping.
• Monitor and maintain patient records related to surgery, such as anesthesia records and surgical counts.
• Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe environment.
• Assist with post-operative care, such as ensuring the smooth transition of patients from the operating theatre to recovery areas.
• Attend staff development programs, training, and meetings to stay current with surgical nursing practices and innovations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Educational Qualification:
• Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of [insert number] years' experience as a Scrub Nurse in an operating theatre setting.
• Experience in different types of surgeries (general surgery, orthopedic, neurosurgery, etc.) is an advantage.
