Underwriting Operations Specialist

About the role

This role sits at the operational core of our underwriting function, turning plans, pricing, and member data into live, correctly configured policies. You will own the setup, mapping, and issuance work that keeps insurer and TPA records accurate, and you will be the dependable. It is a hands-on role that blends careful execution with close cross-functional coordination across onboarding, data, tech, and sales.

Key responsibilities

Plan setup & configuration

• Plan ID creation — Create and maintain plan IDs across health and wellness lines, including wellness constructs.

• Configuration — Own plan configuration end to end

• Plan Mapping — Map plan benefits for wellness customers

Pricing, variant & insurer/TPA mapping

• Pricing — Map insurer pricing to the relevant plans and variants.

• Variant mapping — Map variants to the correct TPA and insurer — a detailed, manual mapping exercise.

• TPA templates — Build TPA templates for every new variant and new policy mapping.

• Directory upkeep — Maintain the variant-wise master sheet for all insurers and keep the partner directory updated across all variants.

Policy issuance & documentation

• Issuance — Run policy issuance end to end: collect documents, gather member data from the onboarding team, and share complete data with the insurer.

• Summaries — Create policy summaries and map them in AWS.

• Proposal forms — Handle manual proposal-form operations with insurers, printing, filling, and routing forms to authorised signatories for sign-off.

Endorsements & migrations

• Endorsements — Process variant-level endorsements with insurers and TPAs.

• Migration review — Review migration plan IDs prepared by the actuarial/migration team before go-live.

Systems & cross-functional coordination

• Insurance Relationship management — Maintain healthy relations with insurance partners & product building

• Identity issues — Partner with the data and engineering teams to resolve issues within the system.

Sales support

• Underwriting Proposals — Support UW team for proposals as per the requirement.

What you'll need

Must have

• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, large data sets, accuracy at scale)

• Sharp attention to detail and strong process discipline

Good to have

• Health insurance or insurance operations experience

• Familiarity with TPAs, insurer mapping, and policy issuance workflows

Experience

2 to 7 years of relevant experience. We are open across the range — strong Excel fluency and a

meticulous, ownership-led approach matter more than years on paper.
