NielsenIQ - Senior Engineering Manager - Mobile Apps

Our NielsenIQ Technology teams are working on revamping multiple platforms, a unified, global, open data ecosystem powered by Microsoft Azure. Our clients around the world rely on NielsenIQ's data and insights to innovate and grow. As a Mobile Engineer, you'll be part of a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies.

Right now our CDAR platform is concentrating on application convergence with latest cross-platform mobile technologies with Xamarin and leverage Azure DevOps to support things like CI/CD and integrations. Our team is co-located and agile, with central technology hubs in Chennai and Pune.

What you'll do :

- Lead the design, development, and modernization of mobile applications supporting data acquisition across retail audits, surveys, and AI-driven collection use cases.

- Own end-to-end delivery of mobile solutions built on .NET MAUI / Xamarin and native mobile technologies, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and roadmap commitments.

- Collaborate closely with Product, DA Operations, Architecture, and PMO teams to translate business requirements into robust mobile solutions for global deployment.

- Provide strong technical leadership and people management, mentoring engineering teams and driving engineering excellence across multiple mobile applications.

- Lead adoption of advanced data collection capabilities, including :

1. Image and video capture

2. OCR and document recognition

3. Computer vision and AI-driven workflows

4. Voice / conversational interfaces

- Ensure code quality, security, scalability, and performance by implementing best practices, code reviews, and quality engineering standards.

- Define and drive mobile engineering governance, including :

1. CI/CD pipelines

2. Code quality metrics

3. Device compatibility and testing strategy

4. Release and deployment processes

- Partner with Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure safe handling of sensitive and regulated data in mobile applications.

- Stay abreast of industry trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend improvements to enhance mobile capabilities and user experience.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- 10+ years of experience in software engineering with strong experience in :

1. Xamarin / MAUI-based mobile development

2. Native Android and/or iOS development

- Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing large-scale mobile application portfolios.

- Strong expertise in :

1. Cross-platform mobile architecture (MAUI/Xamarin)

2. Offline-first mobile design and data synchronization

3. API integrations and backend connectivity

- Experience working on enterprise-grade mobile applications with global scale and high user volume.

- Exposure to AI-enabled mobile capabilities, such as :

1. OCR and image recognition

2. Voice-based interfaces

3. Data collection automation

- Solid understanding of :

1. Mobile application design patterns and optimization techniques

2. Performance tuning and scalability considerations

- Proficiency with :

1. Code repositories (Git, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps)

2. Code quality tools (SonarQube)

3. Unit testing frameworks (NUnit, XUnit)

- Strong experience in Agile/SCRUM environments; SAFe Agile experience preferred.

- Experience in building or integrating custom SDKs / reusable mobile components.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially in device fragmentation and production issue scenarios.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams.

- A consistent track record of high performance marked by ownership, perseverance, and a growth mindset.
