Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Freight Pricing role based in Mumbai. The position involves preparing and evaluating freight rates for project cargo shipments across various modes and trade lanes, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing carrier tariffs, market trends, and cost components; coordinating with operations, sales, and carrier partners to gather necessary data; and preparing quotations and pricing proposals for customers. The role also requires maintaining pricing records, monitoring profitability of shipments, and updating internal systems with current rates and surcharges. The Freight Pricing specialist will support business development efforts by providing timely pricing inputs, responding to rate inquiries, and contributing to pricing strategies that align with customer requirements and company targets.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and numerical skills for rate calculation, cost analysis, and margin assessment.
- Knowledge of shipping, logistics, and project cargo operations, including breakbulk and specialized equipment handling.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheets and pricing tools, and comfort working with data in MS Excel or similar software.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams, carriers, and customers.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing quotations, contracts, and pricing documentation.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work in a fast-paced logistics environment on-site.
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, commerce, or a related field; relevant experience in freight pricing or logistics is an advantage.
- Familiarity with international trade terms (Incoterms), basic customs and port charges, and market rate trends is beneficial.
