Senior Python Backend Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Python Backend Engineer with strong expertise in FastAPI, RESTful API development, and cloud-native backend applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining scalable backend services that power data-intensive enterprise applications, including analytics platforms, optimization engines, simulation systems, and decision support solutions.

The candidate should have hands-on experience working with existing production codebases, developing robust APIs, integrating with external platforms, and collaborating closely with Data Science and Machine Learning teams to operationalize analytical models into production-ready backend services. Experience working in AWS cloud environments, implementing engineering best practices, and supporting production applications is essential.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python and FastAPI.

- Build high-performance RESTful APIs for enterprise applications and third-party system integrations.

- Design API contracts, implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, and ensure API scalability and reliability.

- Integrate backend services with databases, analytics platforms, optimization engines, machine learning models, and external enterprise applications.

- Collaborate with Data Science teams to convert predictive models, optimization algorithms, and analytical workflows into production-ready backend services.

- Develop backend solutions supporting data-driven applications such as analytics platforms, simulation engines, optimization systems, and decision support applications.

- Understand, analyze, maintain, and enhance existing production codebases while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

- Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term fixes to improve application stability.

- Optimize application performance, database interactions, memory utilization, and API response times.

- Develop reusable, modular, and maintainable backend components following software engineering best practices.

- Implement structured logging, centralized error handling, monitoring, health checks, and application observability.

- Work with relational and NoSQL databases to support high-volume transactional and analytical workloads.

- Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams, architects, and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.

- Support application deployment, release management, and production monitoring in AWS cloud environments.

- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline enhancements and deployment automation.

- Prepare technical documentation, API documentation, and operational support guides.

Mandatory Technical Skills :

- Backend Development : Python, FastAPI, RESTful API Development, API Design, API Integration, Microservices Architecture, Backend System Design.

- Programming : Python 3.x, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Asynchronous Programming (Async/Await), Dependency Injection, Multithreading / Multiprocessing (Preferred).

- API & Integration : REST APIs, JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, API Authentication (OAuth 2.0, JWT), OpenAPI / Swagger, Third-Party API Integration.

- Data Engineering & Analytics : Data-Driven Applications, Analytics Platforms, Simulation Systems, Optimization Engines, Decision Support Systems, Data Processing, Business Logic Implementation.

- Database : PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL, MongoDB (Preferred), Redis (Preferred).

- Cloud : Amazon Web Services (AWS), EC2, ECS/EKS (Preferred), Lambda (Preferred), S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch.

- DevOps : Git, CI/CD Pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes (Preferred), Jenkins / GitHub Actions / GitLab CI.

- Infrastructure Basics : Production Engineering, Logging, Error Handling, Exception Management, Monitoring, Performance Optimization, Debugging, Production Support.

- Collaboration : Working with Data Science Teams, Machine Learning Model Integration, Agile/Scrum, Technical Documentation.

Required Qualifications :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

- 5 to 8+ years of experience in Python backend development.

- Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI in enterprise applications.

- Proven experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs.

- Experience working on data-intensive, analytics, simulation, or optimization-based applications.

- Strong understanding of cloud-native application development using AWS.

- Experience collaborating with Data Science and Machine Learning teams.

- Good knowledge of software engineering principles, coding standards, and system design.

- Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
