Commvault Storage Administrator - Backup & Recovery

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commvault Storage Administrator to join our Infrastructure Support team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Commvault backup administration, storage management, disaster recovery, and production support. The role involves ensuring the availability, security, and integrity of enterprise backup environments while providing L2/L3 support for critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

- Administer, configure, and maintain the Commvault Backup & Recovery environment.

- Manage and support CommServe, MediaAgent, Virtual Server Agent (VSA), and related Commvault components.

- Perform backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery operations for physical and virtual environments.

- Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure successful completion of scheduled backups.

- Implement and maintain backup policies, retention schedules, storage pools, and media management.

- Perform regular health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning of the backup infrastructure.

- Manage storage devices, disk libraries, tape libraries, and cloud storage integrations.

- Support Windows and Linux servers for backup configuration and troubleshooting.

- Work closely with infrastructure, virtualization, database, and application teams to ensure backup compliance.

- Handle incidents, service requests, problem management, and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring issues.

- Provide L2/L3 production support and participate in on-call support when required.

- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and backup reports.

- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and disaster recovery standards.

- Participate in backup audits, DR drills, and infrastructure upgrade activities.

Required Technical Skills:

- Strong hands-on experience with Commvault Backup & Recovery Administration.

- Expertise in CommServe, MediaAgent, and Virtual Server Agent (VSA).

- Backup, Restore, Replication, and Disaster Recovery implementation.

- Storage Administration and Data Protection concepts.

- Backup Scheduling, Monitoring, Troubleshooting, and Performance Optimization.

- Windows Server Administration.

- Linux Administration.

- Incident Management and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

- L2/L3 Production Support.

- Knowledge of SAN/NAS Storage environments.

- Experience with VMware and Hyper-V backup administration.

- Understanding of enterprise backup strategies and retention policies.

- Familiarity with ITIL processes, ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Commvault certification is an added advantage.

- Experience with cloud backup solutions (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is preferred.

- Knowledge of scripting using PowerShell or Shell scripting is a plus.
