Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators)
1. Maintain a positive and stable IR climate across plant units.
2. Ensure proper deployment, documentation, and administration of contract workforce.
3. Ensure adherence to all applicable labour laws including: Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act, CLRA, ESIC & PF, State labour rules.
4. Drive workforce-level communication channels such as gate meetings, tool-box talks, and notice boards.
5. Monitor early warning indicators such as absenteeism, wage disputes, or contractor issues.
6. Support senior IR leadership in negotiations, settlements, and representation before authorities.
Critical Tasks (Key Activities)
1. Support discussions with union representatives (if applicable) and ensure smooth grievance redressal.
2. Monitor discipline on shop floor and handle minor misconduct cases, inquiries, and documentation.
3. Conduct regular shop-floor visits to understand workforce issues and reduce IR risks.
4. Oversee contractor compliance with CLRA requirements including: License renewals, Wage registers, Muster rolls, PF/ESIC deductions.
5. Conduct routine audits of contractor records to prevent non-compliance or wage discrepancies.
6. Identify issues (attendance, productivity, disputes) and drive timely corrective actions.
7. Maintain statutory registers, notices, returns, and records as mandated.
8. Coordinate during inspections by labour, factory, or safety authorities.
9. Support closure of compliance gaps identified through internal or external audits.
10. Conduct engagement initiatives for contract workforce to improve morale and reduce absenteeism.
11. Support plant-level communication programs involving supervisors, contractors, and worker groups.
12. Work with Safety, Operations, and HR teams to proactively minimize IR disruptions.
13. Handle on-ground conflict situations with maturity and timely escalation where needed.
Education Qualification & Certifications
Master's degree in HR, IR, Labour Welfare, Labour Law, or MSW/MLW.
Relevant Experience
7-10 years of experience in Industrial Relations, preferably in steel, metals, engineering, or large manufacturing units. Experience with contract labour management and statutory compliance is mandatory. Shop-floor exposure in a factory environment required.
