Position Summary

The PYP Coordinator provides academic and instructional leadership for the successful implementation, development, and continuous improvement of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme. The Coordinator ensures that the programme aligns with the IB Mission, Programme Standards and Practices, and the school's vision while fostering a collaborative culture of inquiry, reflection, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Leadership

• Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the IB Primary Years Programme.
• Ensure compliance with IB Programme Standards and Practices.
• Develop and review the Programme of Inquiry (POI) in collaboration with teachers.
• Promote inquiry-based, transdisciplinary teaching and learning across all grade levels.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in curriculum and pedagogy.

2. Curriculum Development

• Guide teachers in curriculum planning, unit design, assessment, and reflection.
• Ensure horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment.
• Support integration of ATL Skills, Learner Profile, Agency, Action, and Concept-Based Learning.
• Monitor curriculum documentation and maintain programme quality.

3. Teaching & Learning

• Mentor and coach teachers through collaborative planning and classroom observations.
• Provide constructive feedback to enhance instructional practices.
• Ensure authentic assessment practices aligned with IB philosophy.
• Support differentiated instruction and inclusive learning environments.

4. Professional Development

• Plan and facilitate regular professional development sessions.
• Identify staff training needs and recommend IB workshops.
• Support induction and mentoring of new PYP teachers.
• Foster a collaborative professional learning culture.

5. IB Compliance & Accreditation

• Coordinate IB authorization, evaluation, and verification processes.
• Maintain all documentation required by the International Baccalaureate.
• Act as the primary liaison between the school and the IB Organization.
• Ensure timely submission of all IB reports and documentation.

6. Student Learning

• Promote student agency, inquiry, international-mindedness, and the IB Learner Profile.
• Support teachers in planning meaningful learning engagements.
• Coordinate the PYP Exhibition and other programme-related events.
• Monitor student progress and programme effectiveness.

7. Parent & Community Engagement

• Conduct parent orientation sessions on the PYP philosophy.
• Communicate programme expectations and student learning effectively.
• Build strong partnerships between home and school.
• Organize workshops and exhibitions showcasing student learning.

8. Leadership & Collaboration

• Work closely with the Principal and school leadership team.
• Collaborate with coordinators across programmes for curriculum continuity.
• Lead PYP team meetings and collaborative planning sessions.
• Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and improvement initiatives.

9. Quality Assurance

• Monitor implementation of agreed academic standards.
• Analyse assessment data to improve teaching and learning.
• Promote reflective practice and evidence-based decision-making.
• Support school improvement planning and programme evaluation.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education or a related field (preferred).
• IB PYP professional development certification.
• Minimum 5 years of IB PYP teaching experience.
• Minimum 2–3 years of academic leadership or coordination experience.
• Thorough knowledge of IB PYP Standards and Practices.
