Role & responsibilities:
Lead Design Engineering:
Lead the end-to-end engineering and design of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from concept to detailed engineering.
System Design & Optimization:
Prepare and optimize plant layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), DC/AC system design, cable sizing, equipment selection, and energy yield optimization.
Technology & Equipment Selection:
Evaluate and finalize major equipment including PV modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear, EMS, PCS, battery systems, SCADA, and balance of plant (BoP) components.
Engineering Coordination:
Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.
Technical Due Diligence:
Conduct technical feasibility studies, site assessments, energy simulations, battery sizing, grid studies, and design reviews for new projects.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure designs comply with applicable national and international standards, grid codes, CEA regulations, IEC, IEEE, BIS, and client specifications.
Project Execution Support:
Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, testing, and performance guarantee tests (PGT) to resolve technical issues.
Cost Optimization & Value Engineering:
Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize project CAPEX while maintaining quality, safety, reliability, and long-term plant Collaboration:
Work closely with Business Development, Project Management, Procurement, Construction, O&M, and Finance teams for bid support, project planning, and execution.
Team Leadership & Innovation:
Mentor and manage the design engineering team, implement engineering best practices, adopt new technologies, and continuously improve design processes and documentation.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Power Systems, or equivalent; M.Tech is an added advantage.
- 10-15+ years of experience in Solar PV and/or BESS design engineering.
- Strong knowledge of utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, HT/LT systems, substations, SCADA, and grid integration.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP, DIgSILENT, Helioscope, or equivalent.
- Experience in utility-scale projects, EPC execution, IPP/developer environment, and tender engineering.
- Excellent stakeholder management, technical leadership, and project coordination skills.
