Lead Developer

Role Purpose:

Williams Lea are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Front End Development Lead to join our dynamic team. As the Lead Front End Developer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge front-end solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of our front-end systems while providing technical leadership to a team of developers. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of hands-on experience in software development, with a focus on HTML, CSS, jQuery, and JavaScript, coupled with extensive experience in cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. You will lead a team of developers and work closely with other teams to create, maintain, and improve our products. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying high-quality code that meets our clients' needs and exceeds their expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of developers in designing, and development of responsive, user-friendly front-end solutions that meet business requirements and align with best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, guiding them in adopting best practices, optimizing performance, and solving complex technical challenges.
• Ensure the scalability, performance, and security of front-end systems.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in front end development.
• Implement and optimize cloud services, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, to support front end applications.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise, ensuring smooth operation of front-end systems.
• Proficient in conducting thorough and constructive code peer reviews, facilitating collaborative feedback sessions, and providing insightful evaluations to enhance code quality and team productivity.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance front end development, including process optimization, automation, and tooling enhancements, leveraging, promoting, and optimizing AI-driven code generation methodologies to streamline development workflows and increase productivity.

Job Requirements

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and deployment techniques (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, serverless architecture) for hosting and scaling front end applications effectively.
• Strong proficiency in Front End Developer, with a focus on HTML, CSS, jQuery,.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
• Demonstrate ability to learn new technologies.
• Demonstrate ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers.
• Strong presentation skills to present solutions to key stakeholder
• Excellent understanding of workflow-based logic and the ability to understand a business process from a workflow diagram.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are a plus.
• Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and best practices for designing and developing inclusive web experiences.
• Knowledge of working with APIs to fetch and manipulate data from server-side endpoints, as well as understanding GraphQL for more efficient data querying and manipulation.
• Awareness of common security vulnerabilities and best practices for securing front end applications, including input validation, XSS prevention, and data encryption.

Experience

• 10+ years experience as a Front-End Developer, with a focus on HTML, CSS, jQuery, and JavaScript.
• At least 2 years' experience in a managerial or leadership role.
• Experience in building PWAs and SPAs using modern web technologies to deliver native-like experiences, offline capabilities, and fast performance.
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Have experience of Continuous Integration and Deployment and knowledge of source-control tools such as GIT or similar

Desired Skills

• Experience with front end frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) is a plus.
