Senior Manager, Global Settlements & Description:


Role Purpose:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Global Settlements & Payments to lead Boku's global Payment Operations function across digital wallets, account-to-account payments, local payment methods, carrier billing, and emerging payment networks. This role is accountable for defining and executing the operational strategy that supports Boku's continued global growth. The successful candidate will lead a geographically distributed team responsible for payment processing, settlement operations, reconciliations, operational readiness, partner onboarding, incident management, controls, and operational excellence.

As a senior leader, the Manager, Global Settlements & Payments will work closely with Executive Leadership, Product, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, Treasury, Tax, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure Boku maintains world-class operational performance while scaling efficiently and securely. This individual will be expected to drive automation, strengthen operational controls, improve scalability, reduce operational risk, and build a high-performing global organization capable of supporting rapid growth across multiple payment ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead, develop, and scale Boku's global Payment Operations organization.

- Build and manage a high-performing team across settlements, reconciliations, operational readiness, payment processing, and operational support functions.

- Establish clear operating models, performance standards, career development frameworks, and succession plans.

- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and customer-centricity.

- Serve as the executive escalation point for critical payment, settlement, and operational issues.

- Define and execute the global Payment Operations strategy aligned with Boku's growth objectives.

- Establish governance frameworks, operational controls, risk management processes, and service standards across all payment products.

- Ensure operational scalability to support new markets, payment methods, merchants, and partners.

- Drive standardization of operational processes globally while accommodating local regulatory and market requirements.

- Own operational policies, procedures, controls, and playbooks across the payment lifecycle.

- Maintain executive accountability for day-to-day payment processing, settlement operations, reconciliations, exception management, and operational support activities.

- Ensure timely and accurate settlements across all payment partners, merchants, financial institutions, and internal stakeholders.

- Oversee reconciliation governance and resolution of material settlement discrepancies.

- Ensure robust controls exist across transaction processing, settlement, safeguarding, and financial operations.

- Monitor payment ecosystem performance and proactively address operational risks.

- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives to automate manual processes and reduce operational dependency on human intervention.

- Drive adoption of AI, workflow automation, and data-driven operational management.

- Establish scalable operating models capable of supporting significant transaction growth without proportional headcount increases.

- Continuously evaluate operational effectiveness and implement best practices across payments, fintech, and financial operations.

- Champion a culture of continuous process optimization and operational innovation.

- Act as the senior operational representative in strategic discussions with payment partners, digital wallets, mobile network operators, banks, merchants, and regulators.

- Partner with Commercial teams during negotiations to ensure operational requirements and risks are appropriately represented.

- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to ensure operational readiness for new products, integrations, and market launches.

- Build strong partnerships with Finance, Treasury, Tax, Compliance, Risk, and Audit functions.

- Own operational resilience and incident response frameworks across payment operations.

- Lead executive-level response to major payment incidents, service disruptions, and operational failures.

- Ensure root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative controls are implemented.

- Maintain strong operational risk management practices and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and internal controls.

- Ensure readiness for internal audits, external audits, regulatory reviews, and partner assessments.

- Provide executive sponsorship and oversight for onboarding new payment networks, partners, merchants, and markets.

- Ensure all launches meet operational readiness standards before production deployment.

- Establish repeatable operational frameworks that accelerate time-to-market while maintaining control standards.

- Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure successful implementation and post-launch stability.

Key Skills and Competencies:

- Experience of at least 8-12 years in payment operations, treasury, or transaction management ideally in high-growth fintech, digital payments, payment service provider (PSP), acquirer, issuer, or global payments environment.

- Significant leadership experience managing global payments operations teams in fintech, PSPs, payment networks, acquirers, issuers, digital wallet providers, or large-scale commerce platforms.

- Deep understanding of payment ecosystems including digital wallets, local payment methods, card payments, account-to-account payments, carrier billing, and alternative payment methods.

- Proven experience leading large-scale operational transformation and automation programs.

- Strong understanding of settlement operations, reconciliations, safeguarding, treasury processes, and financial controls.

- Experience managing operational risk, regulatory requirements, audits, and compliance frameworks.

- Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence executive stakeholders.

- Demonstrated success scaling operations in high-growth global organizations.

- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.

- Professional certifications in payments, treasury, finance, operations, or project management are advantageous.
