PostgreSQL Database Administrator

About the job :

What will be your responsibility :

- Administer, maintain, and support PostgreSQL and SQL database environments across development, testing, and production systems.

- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning and optimization techniques.

- Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes.

- Ensure database availability, reliability, security, and integrity in Linux-based environments.

- Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migration activities.

- Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to support deployment and production activities.

- Analyse and optimize complex SQL queries, indexing, and database structures for improved performance.

- Implement and maintain database monitoring and alerting mechanisms.

- Support capacity planning, storage management, and database scalability initiatives.

- Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and best practices.

- Provide production support and participate in troubleshooting critical database incidents.

- Exposure to MongoDB and NoSQL databases for handling modern and scalable data solutions will be an added advantage.

What is needed from you :

- Engineering graduate in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

- 10 to 12 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).

- Strong expertise in SQL and PostgreSQL database administration.

- Good experience working with databases in Linux/Windows environments.

- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, backup & recovery, replication, and troubleshooting.

- Experience in database installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance activities.

- Good understanding of database security, user management, and high availability concepts.

- Good knowledge of managing on Prem and cloud base database environment.

- Hands-on experience in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.

- Knowledge of MongoDB and NoSQL databases will be a strong plus.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and manage critical production environments effectively.
