Unit and team Overview

Infotainment platforms unit is responsible for developing maintaining and deploying BMW infotainment platform. BMW infotainment platform is Linux (Yocto) based SW platform that provides common automotive functions used by multiple automotive ECUs. The unit is also responsible for cross-cutting concerns of the platform like architecture security stability and performance. The platform is deployed into multiple infotainment domain ECUs ranging from headunits and rear seat entertainment systems to telematics and audio ECUs.

The Center of Competence (CoC) Lifecycle and System Functions is end-to-end responsible for the functionalities in their domains. We are working in the context of the node0 platform that consists of generic solutions for multiple ECUs as well as ECU specific implementations and configurations. Therefore a close collaboration between the BMW development team as well as external suppliers that provide ECU specific components that affect System Functions and Lifecycle functionality (eg. SW-update diagnostics start-up shutdown power management...) is necessary.

Job Description

As Domain Integrator you are responsible for

• Triaging build failures providing solutions/guidance to users.
• Actively collaborating with CI/Build implementation team on major failures/findings.
• Developing and maintaining tooling for Builds and Release Dev Operations.
• Integrate Platform releases into ECUs.
• Integrate Logistic packages into ECUs.
• Provide hotfixes/patches to ECUs.
• Component Integrations with ECU projects and other stake-holders.

Qualifications

Basic requirements and Education

• University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study.
• A minimum 5 years and maximum 12 years of experience in Build and Release technologies process and management.
• Business fluent English.
• Good communication skills including the ability to discuss technical topics with business-level stakeholders.

Required Experience and Skills

• Experience with complex Linux SW builds and Build tools/systems like CMake Yocto/Bitbake Bazel.
• Experience with different software domains on Linux systems preferably in context of embedded devices.
• Strong hands-on experience with Git Gerrit and Github.
• Familiarity with CI systems and tools like Jenkins Zuul Ansible and Github actions.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge and Good Hands-on experience of scripting languages (Python shell-scripting).
