QC Engineer The Particulars Determine Quality Job Description The "Defect Prevention Custodian" and "Dimensional Gatekeeper" of our plastics manufacturing division is the QC Engineer /(Injection Molding Specialist/). Establishing, auditing, and carrying out stringent quality control inspection procedures throughout automated injection molding cells is your main responsibility. This process turns complex mold blueprints, exact tooling designs, and raw polymer characteristics into plastic products with no flaws and no flashes. As the "Guardian of Shrinkage & Tolerance Compliance," you assume direct execution responsibility for carrying out visual inspections, confirming first/-off part samples, verifying the melt/-flow of raw materials, confirming shot/-weight consistency, and overseeing engineering change orders /(ECOs/) pertaining to tool modifications. Responsibilities/: First/-Off and Last/-Off Sample Validation/: Verify parameters before approving entire production runs by performing thorough visual and dimensional inspections on the first items removed following a tool setup or shift change. Investigate the Root Cause of Molding faults/: Work with molding engineers to adjust barrel temperatures, hold pressures, or injection speeds while isolating and analyzing systemic injection molding faults /(such as weld lines, splay, air traps, and jetting/). Metrology & Precision Dimensional Testing/: To verify tight tolerance compliance, operate and configure specialized measurement equipment, such as torque testers, profile projectors, digital calipers, and coordinate measuring machines /(CMM/). Raw Material & Masterbatch Inspection/: To avoid raw material variations leading to brittle or discolored parts, check incoming plastic resin lots by monitoring moisture content, regrind ratios, and melt flow index /(MFI/) compliance. Skills/: Plastics Defect Analysis & Troubleshooting/: In order to solve molding problems, a thorough understanding of polymer behavior during cooling and the precise interaction between temperature, pressure, time, and speed is required. Metrology & Engineering Blueprint Literacy/: Proficient in using laboratory measuring instruments, comprehending geometric dimensioning and tolerancing /(GD&T/), and interpreting engineering drawing callouts. Core Quality Tools & CAPA Mastery/: Proficiency in 8D problem/-solving techniques, structural Corrective and Preventive Action /(CAPA/) tracks, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis /(FMEA/). Tooling & Mold Infrastructure Literacy/: A basic understanding of mold cooling line configurations, venting pathways, ejector pin markings, hot runner systems, and core pulls.
