Role Mission:
The mission of this role is to define and drive enterprise-level mechatronics strategy and technology roadmaps to ensure Visteon remains a global leader in digital cockpit, automotive displays, HUD, optics, illumination, and electrification systems.
This role is accountable for scaling global engineering capabilities, driving innovation, ensuring profitable growth, and delivering world-class mechatronic system integration across programs, platforms, and regions.
Role Scope:
Executive ownership of Global Mechatronics Engineering (250+ engineers) across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Leads multi-domain engineering including:
- Electro-mechanical systems
- Automotive displays, HUD, and optics
- Illumination and thermal systems
Owns Mechatronics Center of Competence (CoC):
- Strategy, roadmap, budget, capability maturity
- Drives alignment across Engineering, Product, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Sales.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Enterprise Strategy & Technology Leadership:
- Define and govern multi-year technology roadmaps aligned with business growth and OEM demand.
- Position Visteon as a technology leader in mechatronics-integrated cockpit systems.
- Drive innovation in: Smart displays & HUD, Integrated mechatronic architectures, Electrification interfaces (BMS integration touchpoints)
- Translate market and customer needs into scalable engineering platforms and architectures.
2. Global Organizational Leadership:
- Lead and transform a large-scale global engineering organization.
- Build a leadership pipeline and succession bench across regions.

- Talent retention (<10% attrition)

3. Business Impact & Financial Ownership:

Ensure flawless execution across global programs: On-cost, governance frameworks and KPIs:
- Say/Do ratio: > 90%
- Drive risk mitigation, decision velocity, and cross-functional accountability at scale.
5. Advanced Mechatronics System Integration:
- Oversee development of complex, high-reliability electro-mechanical systems.
- Ensure seamless integration across Mechanical, electrical, software, and optical domains
- Promote best practices in System engineering, DFSS, DFMEA, Simulation-driven design (thermal, structural)
6. Supplier Ecosystem & External Influence:
- Build strategic partnerships with key global suppliers and technology partners.
- Influence supplier roadmaps and co-develop next-gen solutions.
- Represent Visteon in industry forums, alliances, and customer engagements.
7. Quality, Compliance & Operational Excellence:
- Drive a zero-defect mindset across the organization: DV First Pass Yield > 90%, DFMEA risk closure before Gate 3.
- Lead enterprise adoption of Quality systems, Process standardization, Continuous improvement and digital engineering tools.
8. Customer & Executive Engagement:
- Act as executive technical interface to key OEM customers.
Influence customer decisions through:
- Thought leadership
- Innovation showcases
- Ensure strong customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
9. Innovation & Future Capability Building:
Drive R&D, PoCs, and next-gen product incubation.
Identify and invest in:
- Automation
- Digital engineering

Required Experience:
Total Experience: 15 - 25 years
- 15+ years in automotive mechatronics / electro-mechanical systems engineering, with leadership of large global teams.
- Deep expertise in Digital cockpit systems, Automotive displays & HUD, Optical and mechatronic integration.
- Proven track record of Driving technology strategy and roadmap deployment, Delivering business impact (profitability, growth), Leading globally distributed technical leadership teams.
- Strong experience managing cross-functional and supplier ecosystems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters / PhD Mechanical / Mechatronics / Automation / Instrumentation Engineering.
- Expertise in Thermal simulation, system modeling, DFSS and advanced product development methodologies.
- Experience across: Automotive (preferred), aerospace, industrial, or consumer electronics
- Active participation in global industry bodies / standardization groups.
