Head – Quality Control

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Quality Control professional to lead the QC function at our Khopoli manufacturing plant. This is a plant-level leadership role responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods meet defined quality standards and regulatory requirements.

The QC Head will be the custodian of quality at the plant and will work closely with Production, R&D, and Procurement teams to ensure consistent product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the QC laboratory, including people, processes, instruments, and documentation.
• Oversee incoming raw material testing and approval of oils, chemicals, fragrances, actives, and packaging materials.
• Manage in-process quality checks across all production lines and product formats.
• Ensure finished goods testing and release as per customer specifications and internal quality standards.
• Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), test methods, and quality specifications.
• Ensure compliance with BIS standards, GMP requirements, and customer-specific quality protocols.
• Lead internal audits and support customer audits, third-party audits, and regulatory inspections.
• Investigate quality deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints through root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
• Manage calibration and qualification of laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Coordinate with R&D on new product quality parameters and scale-up validation.
• Build, train, and mentor the QC team.
• Prepare and present quality MIS reports to plant and senior management.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
• Additional qualifications in Quality Management will be preferred.
• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in Quality Control within soap, personal care, FMCG, chemical, or related manufacturing industries.
• Hands-on experience in soap quality testing including TFM, AD, moisture, pH, chloride, FFA, density, and related parameters.
• Strong knowledge of BIS standards for soaps and detergents.
• Experience in GMP compliance, SOP development, and audit management.
• Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation such as UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, pH Meter, Karl Fischer Titrator, HPLC, and wet chemistry methods.
• Proven team management and leadership experience.
• Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
