Location: Chennai (Siruseri), Tamil Nadu Work Mode: Full-Time Onsite (Work From Office) Industry: Defence / Aerospace / High-Tech Electronics Manufacturing Reporting To: COO / Managing Director Experience: 25+ Years Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication or Mechanical Engineering About the Role We are seeking a highly accomplished General Manager - Supply Chain to lead end-to-end supply chain operations for a rapidly growing Defence and Aerospace organization. The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in strategic sourcing, global procurement, supplier development, inventory optimization, logistics management, and compliance-driven supply chain operations within high-technology manufacturing environments. Key Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Global Procurement - Lead sourcing of critical electronic components, PCBs, connectors, and specialized mechanical systems from domestic and global markets. - Develop and execute resilient supply chain strategies to mitigate risks associated with long lead times, geopolitical disruptions, and supply shortages. - Drive high-value commercial negotiations while maintaining stringent defence and aerospace quality standards. - Deliver sustainable cost optimization initiatives across the procurement function. Vendor Development & Supplier Management - Identify, qualify, and onboard strategic suppliers aligned with aerospace and defence quality requirements. - Establish supplier performance management frameworks covering quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness. - Conduct supplier audits and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance. - Improve OTIF performance, reduce lead times, and strengthen supplier reliability. Operations & Lifecycle Management - Ensure uninterrupted material availability for mission-critical defence and aerospace programs. - Partner with Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing teams to support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives. - Lead warehouse operations, inventory management, inbound logistics, and outbound logistics functions. - Drive inventory optimization while ensuring supply continuity. Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure compliance with GST, Customs, FEMA, EXIM, and applicable regulatory requirements. - Develop and implement supply chain risk mitigation strategies. - Reduce -source dependencies and manage component obsolescence risks. - Strengthen governance, compliance, and business continuity frameworks. Technical Expertise Required - Strategic Procurement & Global Sourcing - Vendor Development & Supplier Management - Electronics Component Procurement - Defence & Aerospace Supply Chains - SAP ERP / Oracle ERP - AS9100 Standards - MIL-Grade Component Sourcing - Inventory & Logistics Management - Import & Export Compliance - Contract Negotiation - Risk Management Key Success Metrics - Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Optimization - On-Time In-Full (OTIF) Material Availability - Inventory Turn Ratio Improvement - Supplier Quality Performance - Supplier Compliance & Delivery Performance Ideal Candidate - 25+ years of progressive Supply Chain leadership experience. - Strong background in Defence, Aerospace, Electronics Manufacturing, or High-Tech Manufacturing environments. - Proven expertise managing global supplier networks and complex sourcing programs. - Demonstrated success leading large supply chain teams and driving operational excellence.
