Job descriptionJob Description About Helfie: Helfie is on a mission to redefine global preventative healthcare. We're pioneering an entirely new operating system for human health – empowering billons with instant, affordable health checks and AI-driven insights. Our vision is to build trust, drive organic engagement, and make preventative healthcare a reality for all 8 billion of us. Join us as we revolutionise the healthcare landscape and make early detection and prevention accessible to everyone. About the role: We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer based in Hyderabad, to own end-to-end quality across Helfie's mobile apps (iOS and Android) and web platform, along with the APIs that power them. You will lead testing strategy and set the bar for what good looks like before anything ships to our users. This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role on a small, high-ownership team. You will partner closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and clinical reviewers from story refinement through release, and you will help shape how QA scales as Helfie grows from thousands of users to millions. Key responsibilities: - Own the end-to-end test strategy across iOS, Android, and responsive web — from sprint-level acceptance testing through full regression and release sign-off. - Design, run, and continuously improve functional, integration, and exploratory testing for every release train. - API testing against our backend services using Postman and REST Assured. - Drive cross-device and cross-browser coverage on real-device cloud platforms across the OS versions, screen sizes, and network conditions our users see. - Build and expand mobile test automation using Maestro, and grow API + UI automation where it pays off; define what belongs automated vs. what stays exploratory. - Partner with developers on dev-tested → Ready for QA handoffs: agree on entry criteria, pairing practices, and what is safe to ship directly. - File crisp, reproducible bug reports in Jira with clear steps, logs, screenshots, and videos; triage severity and priority with engineers and PMs and drive fixes to closure. - Verify fixes, run smoke and regression suites on release candidates, and sign off builds before they go to production or the app stores. - Contribute to incident response and post-release monitoring: partner with engineering on crash triage (New Relic, Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics) and feed production signals back into test coverage. Skills & experience: - 4+ years of hands-on QA experience on production mobile apps (iOS and Android) and modern web applications. - Deep fluency in QA fundamentals: test design techniques, risk-based testing, exploratory testing, and the test pyramid. - API testing experience using Postman and/or REST Assured, working directly from Swagger / OpenAPI specs, and comfortable debugging with logs and HTTP traces. - Proven experience running cross-device and cross-browser testing on real-device cloud platforms - Hands-on mobile automation experience with Maestro (or equivalent tools like Appium, Espresso, XCUITest) and a clear point of view on what to automate and what not to. - Excellent bug advocacy — you file reports engineers enjoy receiving and you push for fixes with data, not opinion. - Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and how builds flow from a PR to a release. - Comfort operating in a startup: ambiguous requirements, shifting priorities, and the autonomy to decide how to test well under time pressure. - Excellent written and verbal communication — able to explain risk and tradeoffs clearly to engineers, PMs, and founders alike. - Experience working in start up and / or high growth environment Nice to Have - Experience testing AI/ML-powered features — prompts, model outputs, confidence thresholds, and fallbacks. - Background in health, med-tech, fintech, or other regulated or sensitive-data domains. - Familiarity with observability tooling (New Relic, Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics) and closing the loop between production signals and test coverage. Benefits: - Opportunities for professional growth and creative development. - Flexible working hours with remote work options. - A vibrant, collaborative team environment.
