About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Industrial Designer - Bags with a minimum of 5 years’ experience specializing in bags, carry solutions, and soft goods, to lead the design and development of functional, aesthetically refined products.
This role is suited for someone with a strong understanding of bag construction, materials, hardware, trims, functionality, consumer behavior, and contemporary design culture. The ideal candidate can balance utility, innovation, aesthetics, and commercial relevance, while translating brand vision into thoughtful, well-executed products.
You will be expected to work across the full design process, from research, concept development, CMF, sketching, CAD, prototyping, tech packs, sampling, and production follow-up while also helping shape design direction and mentor younger members of the team. This is a hands-on senior role that requires both strategic thinking and strong execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of bags and accessories across categories including work bags, travel, tech carry, utility accessories, and lifestyle products.
- Translate market insights, trend research, and customer behavior into relevant and commercially viable product concepts.
- Develop concepts, material stories, CMF directions, product narratives, and design proposals aligned with the brand vision.
- Create sketches, technical drawings, CADs, mockups, specifications, and detailed tech packs for sampling and production.
- Work closely with product development, sourcing, merchandising, marketing, vendors, and factories throughout the design process.
- Explore new materials, trims, constructions, finishes, hardware, and functional innovations.
- Lead prototype reviews, sample iterations, fit/function improvements, and production refinements.
- Ensure consistency in design language, quality, usability, and functionality across the product ecosystem.
- Benchmark global and domestic brands while identifying whitespace opportunities in the market.
- Take ownership of projects from concept to execution, ensuring clarity, feasibility, and design intent throughout the process.
- Provide design leadership across projects by guiding junior and mid-level designers, setting clear design standards, leading reviews, and helping build stronger creative and development processes within the team.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of experience in bags, accessories, lifestyle products, consumer goods, or related product categories; profiles with up to 10 years of relevant experience are welcome.
- Understanding of European and US markets, including relevant brands, design styles, trends, and consumer expectations.
- Strong understanding of bag construction, including patterns, compartments, closures, handles, straps, linings, reinforcements, trims, hardware, and manufacturing techniques.
- Strong portfolio showcasing design thinking, material understanding, storytelling, CMF sensitivity, and product execution.
- Strong visualization skills, especially for materials, textures, finishes, proportions, and CMF directions.
- Excellent knowledge of materials, trims, hardware, finishes, and construction methods used in bags and accessories.
- Strong aesthetic sensibility with an understanding of contemporary global design trends.
- Ability to balance creativity with commercial, functional, and operational considerations.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, CAD tools, and presentation software.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in English and Hindi.
- Experience working with factories and vendors across sampling and production stages.
- A strong point of view on design, functionality, culture, and evolving consumer lifestyles.
- Ability to create products that feel thoughtful, relevant, and long-lasting rather than purely trend-driven.
- A self-starter who can take ownership, make decisions, and drive projects forward independently.
- Experience leading or mentoring designers
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for tech carry, travel, utility-led, or performance-oriented categories.
