Cost Accountant

We’re hiring a full-time Cost Accountant to join Babco Foods. This is not a routine accounting role. We are looking for someone who can deeply understand pricing, margins, profitability, promotions, operational costs, and market dynamics, and help drive strategic business decisions across a fast-growing international food distribution business.

Location: India (remote)

Required Collaboration Hours: Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. US Eastern Time

Experience: 7–15 years

What This Role Requires

• You understand how pricing impacts sales, profitability, and market competitiveness
• You can analyze large operational and financial variables simultaneously
• You think commercially — not just from an accounting perspective
• You can independently build models, identify risks, and recommend actions
• You are comfortable working directly with executive leadership on high-impact initiatives

Core Responsibilities

• Own pricing analysis across products, customers, markets, logistics, and distribution channels
• Track and analyze profitability drivers including freight, warehousing, packaging, sourcing, duties, and operational costs
• Build financial models and scenario analyses to support pricing decisions and growth initiatives
• Develop margin optimization strategies while ensuring sales competitiveness and affordability
• Create and monitor product-level, customer-level, and channel-level profitability reporting
• Partner with leadership and sales teams to develop promotional strategies and pricing initiatives
• Identify cost leakages, margin risks, and operational inefficiencies
• Support future expansion initiatives through forecasting, modeling, and financial analysis

Hard Requirements

• 7+ years of cost accounting and profitability analysis experience in manufacturing, distribution, FMCG, food, or related industries
• CMA (India) or equivalent professional qualification required
• Strong expertise in pricing analysis, cost allocation, and profitability modeling
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
• Ability to understand operational workflows and convert them into financial insights
• Strong analytical thinking and high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong Plus

• Experience in food distribution, FMCG, manufacturing, or import/export industries
• Exposure to Middle East and international markets
• Understanding of global logistics and supply chain cost structures
• Experience working with ERP systems and operational reporting
• Commercial or strategic finance experience beyond traditional accounting
