Orthodontist

Key responsibilities :

• Patient examination and diagnosis : Examine teeth, gums, and jaws using diagnostic tools like dental instruments, X-rays, and study models.
• Diagnose and assess issues such as crowded teeth, malocclusion, and jaw abnormalities.
• Evaluate facial aesthetics and proportions.
• Treatment planning and implementation : Develop and discuss treatment plans with patients, outlining options and costs.
• Prescribe and fit orthodontic appliances, including braces (metal, ceramic, or clear aligners), retainers, and headgear.
• Perform necessary procedures, such as adjusting braces or, in some cases, coordinating with oral surgeons for jaw surgery.
• Patient care and follow-up : Conduct regular checkups to monitor progress, make adjustments, and tighten braces.
• Remove appliances and guide patients on how to care for their teeth during and after treatment.
• Provide education on good oral hygiene practices, including brushing and flossing techniques.
• Administrative and collaborative duties : Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and medical histories.
• Collaborate with other orthodontists, dental assistants, and healthcare professionals.
• Manage appointments and schedules.
• Business and legal compliance : Ensure all work complies with orthodontic guidelines, regulations, and standards.
