About IFACETIFACET is a Section 8 company established to drive industry-oriented education, training, skilling, consulting, and outreach initiatives associated with Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
IFACET aims to create a professionally managed, self-sustaining ecosystem for continuing education, executive learning, industry engagement, digital learning platforms, and strategic institutional initiatives. The organization operates with startup-like agility while adhering to the governance and compliance framework applicable to Section 8 entities under the Companies Act, 2013.
Role SummaryThe HR Head will be a founding leadership role responsible for establishing and scaling the complete Human Resources function for IFACET from the ground up.
This role extends beyond conventional HR operations and requires a strategic builder mindset. The incumbent will lead the design and implementation of people strategy, organisational architecture, governance frameworks, talent systems, compensation structures, culture-building initiatives, and scalable HR processes aligned with a high-growth, mission-driven organisation.
The role demands the ability to bridge academic ecosystems with professional corporate execution models while enabling agility, institutional excellence, and operational scalability.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Strategy & Organisational Design- Design and implement the end-to-end HR strategy aligned with IFACET’s long-term vision and growth roadmap
- Develop organisational structures, reporting hierarchies, workforce planning frameworks, and role definitions
- Establish scalable HR systems and people practices suitable for a rapidly growing institution
- Partner with leadership on organisational effectiveness and transformation initiatives
2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Build-Out- Lead end-to-end recruitment strategy for leadership, academic, technical, consulting, digital, and operational roles
- Build talent acquisition processes, employer branding initiatives, and hiring pipelines
- Develop onboarding and induction frameworks for rapid scaling
- Create a high-performance, mission-driven workforce from inception
3. Policy, Governance & Compliance- Draft and implement HR policies, employee handbooks, service rules, and code of conduct frameworks
- Ensure compliance with:
- Companies Act requirements applicable to Section 8 companies
- Labour laws and statutory regulations
- Payroll and employment compliance requirements
- Establish governance mechanisms aligned with Board oversight and institutional structures
- Develop grievance redressal and disciplinary frameworks
4. Compensation & Benefits Framework- Design competitive compensation structures suitable for a high-performance not-for-profit environment
- Benchmark compensation across academia, startups, consulting, and industry ecosystems
- Develop performance-linked incentive structures and retention frameworks
- Create contractual models for consultants, project staff, adjunct professionals, and full-time employees
5. Performance Management & Culture Building- Develop and implement a robust Performance Management System (PMS)
- Define KPIs and outcome frameworks across functions
- Build a culture focused on:
- Ownership
- Agility
- Accountability
- Institutional excellence
- Innovation and impact
- Drive leadership development and succession planning initiatives
6. HR Systems & Digital Infrastructure- Set up and operationalize HRMS and digital HR tools covering:
- Recruitment
- Payroll
- Performance tracking
- Employee lifecycle management
- Attendance and leave systems
- Ensure scalability and process automation for future organizational growth
7. Employee Engagement & Institutional Culture- Build a strong institutional identity and employee experience framework for IFACET
- Design engagement initiatives for a diverse workforce comprising academic, corporate, consulting, and operational professionals
- Foster collaboration between institutional and industry stakeholders
- Build policies supporting a flexible workforce and project-based engagement models
8. Stakeholder Management- Work closely with senior leadership and institutional stakeholders
- Act as a bridge between academic systems and professional execution models
- Support organisational decision-making through HR analytics and workforce insights
Desired Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualifications- MBA / PGDM in Human Resources from a reputed institution
- Additional qualifications in Labour Law, Organisational Development, or HR Analytics will be preferred
Experience- 8–12+ years of progressive experience in HR leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Building HR functions from scratch
- Startup or new organisation setup
- High-growth or transformation environments
- Exposure to education, consulting, skilling, research, or knowledge-sector organisations will be highly desirable
