The Opportunity We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to join as a GS Officer for a leading Australian university, supporting its operations and engagement across India and South Asia. This role will contribute to the effective implementation of regional strategies through coordination, reporting, and stakeholder support. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently. Experience in higher education or a similar environment will be advantageous. This position requires a dependable, self-motivated individual who can work collaboratively and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. Occasional travel within India may be required.
Role Summary :
Genuine Student (GS) Assessment and Processing Assess applications for compliance with genuine student criteria and within agreed turnaround times. Verify academic documents through institutions, DigiLocker, or other reliable methods. Evaluate financial documentation and assess student capacity to fund studies. Conduct and assess Statements of Purpose (SoPs) and interviews as required. Record detailed decisions and assessments accurately in CRM.
Compliance and Quality Assurance Ensure all processes align with University and Australian government compliance standards (e.g., ESOS Act, DHA regulations, National Code). Monitor agent activity and escalate complex or high-risk cases to the appropriate teams. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of visa regulations, education systems, and financial norms in key markets. Ensure information management, reporting, and record-keeping practices meet university’s legal and operational standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with international admissions teams and university’s GS & compliance staff in Australia and South Asia. Act as the central liaison for GS-related queries and ensure internal teams are kept informed of any policy changes. Collaborate with recruitment teams to ensure applications progress efficiently from submission to enrolment.
Customer Service and Communication Provide high-quality, student-focused service to applicants, families, education agents, and institutional partners. Issue clear and accurate communication regarding additional document requests, refusals, and decisions. Assist in pre-assessment, pre-departure sessions, and workshops as needed.
Qualifications and Experience A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Business, International Relations) and experience in international admissions or GS assessment. Strong understanding of the Australian education sector, visa regulations, and compliance requirements. High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Excellent communication skills in English and fluency in Hindi; knowledge of additional Indian languages is a plus. Previous experience with StudyLink Connect is preferred. Experience working with the Australian Department of Home Affairs or similar visa processing experience is an advantage. A strong commitment to student service and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
