Job descriptionRole: Assistant Manager - Jewellery Company: Saffronart/StoryLTD Work experience: 2-4 years Location: Mumbai Salary: Commensurate with experience and as per industry standards About the Role Saffronart, together with its sister auction platform StoryLTD, is seeking a bright, self-motivated, and hard-working Jewellery Assistant to support our jewellery team in cataloguing, condition checks, research, valuation groundwork, and client-facing interactions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with jewellery experience — particularly from the design, retail, or gemology side — who wants to work at the intersection of front-end client engagement and specialist research. The role will involve handling exquisite jewellery pieces, assessing their potential for auction, working closely with clients and suppliers, and supporting our aim of establishing jewellery as a major auction category in India. Candidates with GIA training will have an advantage, as the position entails applying gemological knowledge to valuation, grading, historical research, and presentation of pieces. Key Responsibilities Operational & Administrative - Perform daily administrative task and organizational responsibilities. - Create inward and outward documentation for consignments. - Perform initial and final condition checks on jewellery before arrival and shipping. - Enter and update data in the organisation’s internal database. - Assist with stock inventory, including handling jewellery, forms/props. - Manage the department’s library of reference books. - Support catalogue photoshoots, catalogue production, layout, and research for print/online auction catalogues. - Undertake auction related tasks - Organise and prepare pieces for photography, ensuring accurate representation for catalogues and marketing. Requirements: - Graduate in any discipline. - 2–4 years of relevant jewellery experience (auction house, retail, design, sourcing, appraisal, or similar). - GIA certification preferred (AJP, Graduate Diamonds, Graduate Coloured Stones), with knowledge in valuation, grading, and gem identification. - Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail. - Proficient in spoken and written English; strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). - Ability to work collaboratively in a team and meet tight deadlines. - Eagerness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
