Role Description


Title: Sales Intelligence Trainee

Team: Sales Intelligence

Location: Bangalore

Reporting to: Manager – GBS Commercial

Duration: 6 months

Qualification: MBA


Primary Purpose of the Role:

As a key member of the Sales Intelligence Team, you will play a vital role in delivering standard sales reports, supporting ad-hoc requests, and contributing to ongoing projects. Your main objective will be to help drive business growth by accurately reporting and analyzing key sales performance indicators (KPIs) within agreed service levels, while providing insights that add strategic value.

This apprenticeship offers practical experience across several core areas, including sales KPI reporting, understanding the full sales journey, building performance dashboards, and developing analytical thinking by connecting insights across various commercial functions. You’ll learn to generate actionable, data-driven recommendations that support the sales team’s strategic decisions.

By the end of the program, you will have developed a solid foundation for a successful career in sales KPI reporting and analytics.


Role Responsibilities & Learnings


Role description

1. Sales KPI Reporting & Strategy

High level understanding of the Target Setting & Variable Compensation process and building strong understanding of multiple sales KPIs under the below categories:

Sellout performance, POC Executions, Sales Performance, Promotions & Financials.

Own the reporting and performance visibility of sales KPIs across categories and markets. Solve problems quickly and effectively by applying logical thinking to be able to resolve the issues for the Sales Team with minimum impact on Business.


2. POC Mapping

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the POC Mapping and One-Year Plan (1YP) process, including how to cluster customers based on their strategic importance. Establish the appropriate visit frequency for each segment and implement a system to consistently track, monitor, and evaluate performance against defined 1YP key performance indicators (KPIs).

Take ownership of maintaining an optimal POC base, ensuring clear visibility into cluster and segment transitions. Proactively identify and communicate any discrepancies, while providing regular updates on focus and priority POCs / best opportunities to support strategic decision-making and effective resource allocation.


3. Sales Analytics

Understanding the analytical projects & methods used to drive market commercial levers like Volume sales, Distribution & Market share. Establish the mathematical relationship with KPIs that can help drive overall sales and create an action plan for the sales team

Take ownership of any one analytical project having direct impact of sales of products in a market. Understand the drivers of sales, map the data hypothesis tree and establish a model that will pro-actively help the markets the plan future months & focus on driving more sales. Expected output is a python decision making script & a dashboard that can help understand drivers.


4.SFDC

Gain hands-on experience using the CRM tool Salesforce, enhancing the ability to manage customer relationships effectively and idea of GCC capability on supporting zone. Develop a comprehensive understanding of inventory optimization processes within merchandise distribution, including understanding of core working capital, stock replenishment, and efficient allocation.

Take ownership of administrative tasks related to inventory management, including user and SKU account creation and maintenance, and ensuring effective inventory allocation. Maintain complete visibility and transparency in inventory movement, generating actionable insights. Proactively identify and report discrepancies through appropriate channels, with regular updates. Focus on fast-depleting inventory to enable timely decisions and optimize resource allocation.
